New Doctor to be Revealed this Sunday

I'm so glad they've gone older and more rugged. This'll be interesting! I can't wait to see his 'costume'.

So the only rumour I heard was correct.

If it means less mad rushing around, I'm all for this casting.

I was just saying to No One that I can't imagine him doing all the running and crashing and falling over. We want him to be all graceful and a little bit sinister.

Sinister would be great.

As would getting his companions to swear an oath.... ;):)

Well, cat's out of the bag now. The whole world knows. Just finished watching the live stream and have to say, I'm curious as to what kind of doctor this person will be. Very different image and look to Matt Smith.

SPOILERS
Congratulations Peter Capaldi, The Twelfth Doctor

Interesting that he had already been on the show before. He was one of the characters in the Fires of Pompeii episode. Although apparently not the first time for that to happen.

It's a running theme, it seems. Martha was (explained as being her cousin), and Amy was in Fires as well, I think.

Yep, and Colin Baker also played a Time Lord in the show before he got the job as the main guy too.

I think the new choice is excellent. Really looking forward to his incarnation.
I suppose, if you count Torchwood, the new guy's been in the show twice before!

I've always liked him, since way back in the day, so I'm really intrigued with the new look and direction he will take the show in.

Hurray! I can actually see myself watching this again.

Please, please let him be allowed to play it as Malcolm Tucker.

Thrilled to see how he will play this. A solid choice I think.

Just looking at his profile on IMDB, in World War Z he played the role of W.H.O. Doctor. The clues were there all along. I hope for a bit of Malcolm Tucker in it, more the attitude than the effing and blinding. Sort of Malcolm Tucker meets Tom Baker's Doctor. With an older Doctor does this mean less URST? I hope so. Anyway, I like this choice.

I concur. I've only dabbled very lightly in DW since Smith took over, what with the gurning and wobbling and running about. I'll give it a shot again.

Sorry, I'm a bit disappointed to see another white male doctor. I mean, surely at some point a random generation must come up with some other genetic make-up. I thought they missed the chance to do something up to date with the genre and the show. Killjoy, I know.

I get the impression that Moffat doesn't want to be the one who set what he sees as this classic, traditional institution on a radical new path. And as much as I would have loved to see Idris Elba at the helm of the TARDIS, there was no other white male who, once you considered him for the role, would have done. With the younger actors, I found myself thinking: "Yeah, out of these three, I think I'd prefer Rory Kinnear" - it was a case of choosing the least bad of the three. It wasn't until the rumours a couple of days ago that I really thought: "He's a Doctor. There's no other white male who I would accept!".

Now for a bit of fun! A NSFW script of the first episode of the next series has been, er, "leaked". Totally new direction, and it's as awesome as you could imagine! :p

If you still don't know the identity of the next Doctor, do not click or even hover over the link!

"Leaked" Doctor Who Script

Oh, that looks great, Lenny. Steven Moffat really is revolutionising Dr Who. The next season is going to be awesome!

...

ahm...

Definitely take that with a grain of salt. So blatantly fake.

While the concept of a more mature Dr Who is very interesting, I really don't believe they will make it unfriendly for families. Although to be honest, they would probably draw in a lot more viewers with a more mature Dr Who -- even at the cost of some previously loyal fans.

If they wanted to trick us, they should have faked the watermark all those scripts have too. See here: http://www.hypable.com/2013/04/01/p...ary-table-read/doctor-who-50th-anniversary-2/

I think MTV Geek got the month wrong. We aren't in april, are we? Or is this August Fools Day?
