BristolCon 2013

(It's slightly later in the year than the 2012 event; that's what probably confused you.)

I think it was. :(

You strong arm me into going, and now you're not!!

I really, really wanted to go. I'm still considering going. Either see if I can cancel my holiday or... I dunno. Just go for half a day. Anybody remember what time it finished last year?

It went on quite late - the closing ceremony started at 20:00 - but I left about 19:00.

TJ left earlier than that, if I recall correctly.

I think the last park and ride bus was about 7ish so I went on about then?!

Poooooo.

I think I left 7/8. I guess you'll have to come to Brighton instead :p

Aw... Mouse... I've just looked at the list of people going... it's awesome... shall I send a cat down your way to chase you up to Bristolcon?

The panels finished about five last year... had to catch a train round about six...

I'm still umming and ahhing over it. My problem is that it takes an hour to get to Bristol (which I know is nothing compared to some of the guys here!) but then an hour to get back (not including waiting for the bus and bus travel), then it takes me an hour to get to where I'm going on hol. Plus as I said, my grandmother's birthday so I need to show my face there.

I'm thinking of going! It's only 30mins drive for me, but not sure what to expect really, having never been to a con before!

It's a nice con, Bristol. Lots of panels going on so there's always something to do. Friendly people. Books for sale (plus freebies!), other stalls, art, authors, signings...

The decision as to whether you're still going on holiday or not is yours, and you can take it in your own good time (depending on cancellation fees, if applicable, obviously).

If you do decide that you're going to visit some of Bristolcon, you'd be better waiting for the programme to be published, so you can pick the best time.

Seconded what Ursa said. It will be nice to see you there, but don't stress over the decision.

Mouse - this is very practical good advice from the bear. Last year's Bristolcon had its first panel start at 10am.

Not sure what the programme for this year is yet. I have a sneaking suspicion the emphasis will be on something this year that doesn't really take my interest all that much:(, but I'm sure there'll be enough to keep me out mischief!

Is it worth a 2 hour drive? :) think I'm going to give it a shot.

Two hours? It takes me longer than that to get there - from East Dorset - via a network of rural, country-pancaked, roads.

Okay, I could do it in two hours if I went the long way round, via the M4. (And that way, there's less chance of me driving into a tractor or cow.)

But as last year, I'll probably drive up the day before (but in daylight, this time), so that I don't have to get up at an ungodly hour on the Saturday.
