Discussion thread -- seventy-five word challenge October 2013

This theme and genre seems an oxymoron to me. Or at least it did until I read Springs story. Which reminds me of a country western singer who told about writing a song when he was teenager and would always put his latest flames name in, he said, and I quote "It worked every time."

Ha! I love that. I'm sure I've met people just like that...

Springs, I love it!

Ty. Made my day, that did. :)

Blimey, day 1 and 7 posts already! And a newbie, if I'm not mistaken - welcome along Remedy!!

Hell of a standard set already - I love them all so far. And it's wonderful to be able to sit back and read more entries as they come in, once you've posted your own, isn't it? Good choice Alc!

Well I avoided most of the awful jokes I know, especially the one about gay ghosts...

Thank you Boneman.

Yes, my first post today. I was a spectator on the previous month's competitions and I wanted to get involved this month. The format is fantastic.

Boneman, your entry really made me chuckle.

Not sure how everyone manages to choose a winner each month.

welcome remedy

and re the voting, it seems for some people the simple answer is not to vote!

(excepting all those with valid reasons for not voting of course)

well i think my entry is written. it's been bloody exhausting though as i've pulled it from the depths of,well, somewhere. now i need to recoup, let it sit and then re-read before posting...

Well that's me done, and as it has turned out I've hit 100 posts with my entry. So if you can all sing along with it :D

9 Up on before lunch on day one.

23 Days to go, 18 a day = 414 to choose from!

I think my head would explode if that happened, there'd be yellow goo all over.

Well I am in as well...I have been working on a story right now that fit right in so this is a tiny edited version that pulls from it.

Great entries so far gang!

Been mulling this over for sometime but September will have to be my last entry for both the 75 and 300.

I'd hoped that they would help my writing, but for me I don't think they have (I seem to be going backwards more than forwards).

It has been fun. I've loved writing every entry and thoroughly enjoyed reading everyone else's.

So to end with a snippet of plagiarism ... so long and thanks for all the fish :)

Mods please note that I originally posted my entry on the wrong thread - this one. Am I forgiven?

That's a pity. I seem to remember you getting many mentions and votes. It gets hard to enter every month after a while, but maybe an occasional theme will draw you back soon :)

Do you still have your fingernails?

Sorry to hear that Luiglin, but you will come back and vote, won't you? Or to use a plagiarism (that's how you spell it!! Thank you, I always got it wrong) will ye no come back again?

I would ask you to continue to participate if at all possible. The more the merrier. Fun is the point of it, isn't it?

Bowler1 -- This lighthearted, whimsical tale manages to create an enjoyably spooky mood.

Remedy -- The author offers us a bittersweet love story, with the perfect balance of happiness and tears.

Boneman -- A tastefully bawdy, droll and satiric bit of merriment that winks a sly eye at some aspects of our daily lives.

Hex -- Through a vivid description of a battle that might be almost anywhere in space and time, the author shows us the appeal of eternal rest.

Mith -- This amusing twist on certain aspects of popular culture brings the reader a healthy chuckle.

ratsy -- With a delicate touch, this gentle romantic fantasy is sure to stay in the memory for a long time.

Juliana -- The author boldly offers a powerful allegory, forcing us to face truths which may not be entirely comfortable to contemplate.

reiver33 -- This erotic dark fantasy is wonderfully sensual and eerie.

Mirannan -- Using a laconic, terse style, the author reimagines an old myth in modern terms with great effect.

Thanks Alc, great theme and genre. Unusually for me I thought something up in the car on the way home tonight. I've just jotted it down - bang on 74 words and almost the finished article.

I've just got to think of a title then let Mrs Mosaix read it. I may even post it tonight. I don't think I've ever posted on the first day before. Still, that'll give me more time for the 300 worder. At the moment my mind is totally blank on that one.

Mine too. We'll get there. :)
