Are you angling for a chance to blame March Madness for any late submissions? :D

I wish I could, with a straight face  ... it's been my own bad planning, I'm afraid, coupled with the change of the whole Sudan/Senegal job. I'm still 2 weeks behind.

Here is what I think: if the guys who have their lives in order, can keep to deadlines and are generally more upstanding ;) don't want to wait, I will drop out, and finish this story in my own time. I'll email it for delivery in a couple weeks (I've started and restarted it three times now and I'll be d***ed if I'm not finishing it, it's been such a slog).

If I'm allowed the shocking grace of another fortnight, I will throw my living Force into it :)

Whaddadya say?

If he gets his fortnight, I'll edit the crap ending off mine into something I'm not so ashamed to put ny name to.

Do it anyway. Be proud of your piece. If you already know how it ends, it'll be done in no time, and there are several other stories to come. If you have to generate a new ending, this might be a little more time consuming, of course.

Ok. I couldnt resist any longer. The sun is happy, the plants are happy, my tea is giving me a hug from the inside, and I had no other obligation to pretend I dont have the time to bring it up to a standard I'm happier with.

Revised version resent. But I dont promise not to toy with it if another opertunity like this presents itself. I'm still not happy with where it leaves off, but I'm not ashamed to put my name to it anymore.
*sunny smile* rush job excuse-excuse-bla-bla-bla I'm going outside to play now :)

I know how you feel hope, I might go mangle mine up again and try to write an ending that doesn't make me cringe in my sleep. :D

really? you do the endings last? i usually get the idea, find the end of it, look for the beginning line, then put the stuff in the middle like doing the frame of a puzzle and filling in the pieces in the middle to get the picture there. sometimes i work backwards.
how can it fit in the middle if the ends don't match? you could end up with about six different stories that way... ( three climaxes of each major act each of which could go either way.. therefore six possible directions...) and how do you get the understory to match into the overstory if you don't know where they are joined together?
oh well, karn told me i have a lot to learn and you guys are the best examples to imitate.

You shouldn't cringe in your sleep -- that's a good way to wake up with a stiff neck. :D

My problem is that I write beginnings. Lots and lots of beginnings. And I usually know what the ending is going to be, but before I get enough stuff in the middle to get there, I think of a new beginning.

I like beginnings too. I love a concept that gives you the freedom explore. I find that if I know the ending, I almost find it too boring to write - like going through the motions just to get there. Not knowing how my story will end, makes it more exciting to write :)

Whatever works. My super hero WIP started with what was supposed to be a stand-alone story that is now something like chapter 25. The start of the story just kept going back further and further in time. My new beginning is now about chapter 4.

I've effectively written the middle, then written the start, then the new start, and someday I'll get around to writing the end...

I like to know my ending, which is why I sit on an idea in my head for weeks sometimes planning the points...then after I feel that I know what the hell I am going to do, I sit down and write it. Usually works out well.

So TDZ, I think you must have left the whip in the toybox since we are almost a month past the due date now!

We can wait everyone but you all get a C on your report cards :)

Yes, I think it might be time to get out the whip!

Can we try to get everything in by the end of March, since we were shooting for the end of February? :D

Nobody's going to let me run this thing again if I don't start cracking some heads.

Let you? They might oblige you to, figuring you need the practice. Though what you're expected to do beyond name and shame I don't know.

Colorado is quite a distance to swing a baseball bat.

I do strait runs. Start at the beginning and run with it until I run out of words.
I'm not saying my system is the best, just saying what it is.

I'll let you run it again Dusty, understanding and a sense of fair play is how the dates got all stretched out. Since several of us had some Life stuff come up... *shrug*

I'm glad that you're in charge TDZ :)

I was late handing in my assignment. I actually had school-day flashbacks of late homework and I thought you might put me in detention and phone my parents!

We're grateful for your understanding. As long as we don't treat you like a supply-teacher and draw inappropriate things on your whiteboard :D

*walks in, hands Dusty an apple and smiles...takes seat in front row and opens a book*

Would you believe me if I said my parents are hermits and have no phone? ... if not that, then... My dog ate their phone number! :)

Walks in, checks desk fills inkwell – don't know why, always write in pencil, but it feels right – sits down and raises hand.

"Do we get to do the next bit soon, miss? It is the end of march, and you'd asked me to hand my homework in for the end of february."

Ostentatiously twiddles thumbs.

"Anyway, you can't ring my parents 'coz I en't 'ad none fer ages."

Yes, I certainly hope we get to the next bit soon -- I have just over half of the required entries at the moment.

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Oh, wait, not Bueller. He didn't enter this time.

Mith?
monsterchic?
Phyrebrat? (He promised to get it in today.)
Glisterspeck?
Tywin?
jastius?
