Congratulations Teresa! A tearaway win if I ever saw one... (and I have... my 1983 win at the Junior Fishing Competition where I landed 11lbs of gudgeon, dace and perch, for example.) :D

And condolences - and apologies for jinxing you - to Springs.

Thank you Ursa for the vote - very pleased, indeed.

Some great battles are fought on these chrons. One day I hope to be on a winning team :)

isn't 16 some kind of a record?

TJ holds that for 22 (!) votes in 300 Word Challenge #2.

With springs piling up the votes so steadily, I felt lucky to get 16. I still feel lucky. The way things were shaping up until the last few hours, the most I was hoping for was to catch up and force a tiebreaker vote (which I would subsequently lose).

So thank you again to everyone who voted for my story! It was a thrill to come back and participate in the challenges after several months of brain fog whenever I even thought about writing something, and to then be able to write a story that so many people liked.

Do we really have to wait another month and a half for another one?

It takes us that long to find and agree on an inspiration picture! Sometimes we're still talking about it right up to the end. I think I remember a time when we finally reached a decision on the day before the Challenge had to be posted. We need something that all the moderators involved in the challenge think will work, and we have to be able to post it without violating any copyrights. Though we make the decision, help finding a pictures to consider is more than welcome.

And, everyone, please remember that we are always open to suggestions. If any one has seen something in one of the photo challenges that you think is particularly evocative, or have artwork or photographs of your own that you think might do, send them along to one of the moderators for consideration. (But if there are photos by other members that you've seen and think might do, give us time to contact the photographer and ask for permission.)

It seems me and DEO share the second-place record of 14 votes. :)

I was delighted this month - it was the most votes I ever got, and, tbh, I had a very good idea how the last night's votes would go and was readying the bridesmaid dress from early morning.

I'm delighted Teresa won, I'm delighted to see her back writing. I'm just hoping work (and writing, so that's exciting) commitments give me time to keep entering. ;)

Cheers for all the congrats-commiserations, all are appreciated. ;)

Edit - and, yes, Phrye, I'm blaming it all on you. :p

Congratulations Teresa

I've returned. Thanks everyone who gave me a nice comment. And a big thanks to Jastius for the vote. You made my night. :)

Well done to those who were close behind Teresa in the competition with votes!

very well done theresa, lovely story..
you top runners are all so talented all the time..
Starbeast, i voted for you because i have been reading comics forever and you captured bats and spideys personalities perfectly.
joan with her tom swift as a girl tale was excellent,
and karn's with his angel that later in her story gets executed by the heavenly council, (i think that was in a previous challenge somewhen...) well seeing why she gave up heaven for her heart's love, doomed them both, but for a moment they found sanctuary and happiness, it made me cry, the poor harassed things.
so that is why i voted the way i did...
mr orange, i loved the image of that little boy's shoe crushing the alien army..
johnny jet, your tale of human fortuitousness in guarding their future, was ennobling to the spirit.
amb, your girl in her rags in the rain aspiring to become more was absolutely brilliant.
ratsy, as always, your story was illuminating the vagarities of the human condition with a excellent dollop of wit.

Thank you for your comment Jastius. I've been a comic book fan for a long time too. Plus I've been watching the 1960's Spiderman cartoon series quite a bit lately. :D

Congratulations, Teresa! :)
A well-deserved win.

Congrats too to springs. The close voting reflected superb stories by both of you.

As usual, though, the quality of the writing for all entries was exceptionally high. It makes for near-impossible voting, but very good reading.

For myself, my thanks to crystal haven, Fitzchiv, Phyrebrat, and The Judge for the votes. Those put me up to 6, my best ever result! Seriously chuffed by that, so thanks again for all votes and mentions. :)

CONGRATULATIONS TERESA!

And well done springs :)

Thanks to Phyrebrat for the mention, I'm pleased you liked it.

Come on April! :D
