What are you working on right now?

My short story, a ghost story set in Central Park is moving along well. I'm close to 3000 words and I hope to finish it tonight.

Then I plan on getting back to the MS for some serious word count additions!

First 40 pages of WIP edited. As most of the changes I have to make are in the first 100 pages, I'm almost half-way through. :)

The rest is more revision and small tweaks than actual rewrites. Aiming to have it done by the end of next week... Let's see if life collaborates.

Just approved the proofs, now nervously waiting for a 'test run' hardback to arrive. Decided that I had to do one, just to see if what I want to create for November's book is going to be worthy. As all I really need is to see the aspects of the physical book, I knocked up a personal favourites selection from my first four science fantasy anthologies, with a new cover from a piece a friend had created. So, I either way, I get a unique addition to the shelf; plus save myself a load of cash - or reassure myself that what I want to do is viable.

Currently, I am working at turning a 1000 word picture book by a ten year old into a publishable-quality story. I figure that it is good practice, and it has been a learning experience so far.

Hi,

The Godlost Land just came back from its second edit this evening, so I guess I'm going to be fairly busy for the next week or so! Still, the end is finally in sight.

Cheers, Greg.

That's a good place to be Greg.

I'm just polishing off a 3k short I started this morning, reverting back to type (in other words riddled with dragons). It's because I can't seem to get the twist at the end quite right in the 17 k one mentioned above. Decided I needed something new to distract me in the hope that the end will just leap out of the page and grab me by the throat.

Now there's an idea, right there...

I went into the currently being edited for review book and found the paragraph indenting formatting had vanished (mostly, some suvived, how bizarre...) it's ok for the stuff still be edited as I can fix it, but the 92 pages already done had to be fixed. :(

On the plus side, I think the story is getting there.

I finished my Ghost story earlier this week and also busted out a 3000 word Fantasy short. It was fun to do since I never write that kind of story. So if I have time to write this weekend, I will try to do another chapter in Sleepy Grove, my WIP

I've written 12 more pages of my story for Springs - The Folding; I don't think anyone* would forgive me if I didn't finish my SS for a second time...

It's now 17K and as I don't have to get it in to Hope for dispatch or guessing, I'm not editing as I go (as much :guilty smiley:) and hope to be done in a month.

So, in other words, my SS4 has become my wip! But I got pretty validated by a couple of comments on here which has given me inertia-cancelling impetus to crack on with it.

*by "anyone" I mean TDZ and Hope :p

Now that my biopunk is out with queries, I'm finally diving into my new baby. Also YA. It's a sort of sword-and-sorcery spoof with an Alice in Wonderland meets Hitchhiker's Guide feel to it. Today I added zombies, 'cause why on earth not?

Rewriting the start of Kingdom Asunder. Writing new material at this stage. After this subplot is expanded upon I *might* do the same for another thread, but it might be too similar and I don't want it to seem repetitive.

Doing a big edit on I, Singularity. Noticed possible overuse of the word "arse ". :) Also have to start the now mid-book scene where our heroes battle the mad scientist super villain and his doomsday device (one asteroid attracting ray, patent pending).

I've an R+R on my steampunk novel that's claiming all my creativeness, and far more fun right now than the looming Uni work. :/ While Uni involves reading, I've yet to decide on which recommendations to read!

Scrambling to try and maybe finish a short story, the deadline for which has just leapt at me like a giant spider that had been hiding in the shadows.

It's at times like this I wish I were better at self-assessment of my writing. Also, nearly finished a rewrite of the start of Kingdom Asunder (well, one aspect of it, but it's the largest bit).

4K into the story of the Tunnel-people of Earth vs. the machine-cities. No idea how it will end, so rather exciting.

Hi,

Currently I'm rediscovering the joy of Dungeon Siege II (the game!) having finished my book a few days ago. I don't know why it is but whenever I complete a book I can't normally return to writing for a little bit. I think the publishing part is simply too draining and I need to recharge.

Cheers, Greg.
