What are you working on right now?

90k hit. Almost at the end!
Working on Synopsis and Query though. Really struggling with that.

I got review comments back (on my 4th draft) from a friend who is a very keen SciFi writer. I am now embarking on by 5th edit ... not too much to do ... still aiming for self-publish by Sep/Oct ...

for those who like numbers ...
1st Draft (Jun 2013) - 70,000 words
2nd Draft (Sep 2013) - 90,000 words ... followed by 1st Reader review
3rd Draft (Mar 2014) - 115,000 words ... the 1st Readers want to know so much more ... sent to formal editor review
4th Draft (July 2014) - 85,000 words ... the Formal Editor Review felt there were too many clunky bits in my 115k version ... it's now quicker :)
5th Draft .. starting ... hopefully just tweaking ...

I've taken my wife's advice to not worry about re-write of "Jorath's Quest", but to press on an write new books in the Circle College framework ("The Apprentice's Talent" is first) I think I'll not worry too much about edit of TAT till the next few are done in case I need to go back and change something. Though they are mostly standalone. The only "over arching" plot item is really Earth's Starship which is entirely minor and unimportant in all but one of the envisaged books. So eventual reading order will not be absolutely critical, though Maisie gets 3 "Talent" books.
So yesterday I created plot outline, list of about 26 "events" etc. What doesn't fit in about same length of book for "The Journeyman's Talent" will go in other later books.

Got my comments back on my sit-com so far so from Friday it will be back to that. In the meantime I am working on getting a submissions out to a couple of agents.

just finished "ink mark-up" of Version 5 ... typing tomorrow ... whilst re-reading everything I can find about Print on Demand

Edited. Turned 94k into 92k. Don't think i'm going to hit 100k with this work.

Waiting for feedback from beta readers on my YA before final edits and querying.

Plotting and planning out new baby; rough outline is done, ready to start the fun bit (the actual writing!).

Woot. Finished the big, big writethrough of book three of the trilogy, Abendau Falling. One scene to be mauled, and one beta to have a look at it, one scene to revise in book two on the back of it, and then it's over to Teresa. Gulp. ;)

Alright then. So I finished my Sekrit Santa stoty . It ended up around 4300 words. I went to the coffee shop with every intention of working on my book and started a new short that I'd been planning. Such is life. The intro is done at 800 words. Can't get enough ghosts ...can you?

Working through the first redraft of Kingdom Asunder. Major changes needed at the start. Handily, I have a few secondary characters I can use for that, and it can help develop certain major characters a bit more.

With this year's science fantasy anthology published, it's time to do a final review pass on Stars of Black before it goes out for it's second proof run - with 'team two' - then an editorial review, before winging its way home to me in early November.

Having finalised plans for the hardback limited edition of this book, I'm much happier - I know where everything goes, now. :)

I'm rather surprised to find that I've written 2,000 words about an old man hunting revenants in mock-Tudor "England". Of course, whether it's any good remains to be seen.

Sitting at 95k, working on the final chapter. Just did a purge of sighs too. Got this chapter then epilogue to do. This chapter will be up for critque eventually because it's got to be perfect!
