What are you working on right now?

I'm happy to report that Dynasty: Roots of an Empire is finally finding it's footing after one year of working on the beginning to this monstrosity. It was definitely a challenge finding the right roots of the story so to speak, but now that I have it, I am cranking out chapters on the things I have been keeping on the back burner! It's very exciting to finally be able to flesh out these ideas. I have never had such a hard time with a novel and a beginning before and I have three unpublished written works. The story is coming together fast now because I have already written a lot of it. I just didn't know how to start it. These first three chapters have been really difficult for me because the story is so massive in scope and space and time! I want to thank all the Chronicles members who have helped me with content over the past year. I appreciate all their efforts.

I hope to have a finished MS by the end of summer 2016 and I will be asking for beta-readers in the next coming months!

Cli-Fi, finding a way to start a story is sometimes the worst part. Glad to hear you've gotten the creative juices flowing. Good luck!

Boy do I know now. I usually just start a story with an idea in mind and not really knowing how it will end. This is the first one I really fleshed out and had no idea how to start. It's also one I really hope to get published because I think the story is pretty unique.

Still working on my mammoth edit of the long epic fantasy, now using text-to-speech which is paying off as it highlights anything that sounds clunky or has unintended rhymes etc.

Endlessly working on Woodbridge projects, but want to make time this weekend to keep plugging away at my book, combing through it, fixing, tweaking, and getting ready for beta readers. After which I expect some drastic rewrites, and changes. We will see!

I'm playing around with a scene for a possible High Fantasy series. Proof of concept type thing. Don't know why, but High Fantasy often seems to drag as a writing project for me.

I'll be getting back to editing the military sci-fi later this afternoon though and maybe doing some micro-fiction first drafts too.

Splitting my time between comedy and the third part of the trilogy (and redrafting the second when beta readers send feedback).

Still want to write more shorts for Kraxon but it's a bit tricky finding the time.

I wrote my first book in 1993 and I've dug it up and started working on it again. It's set in the future and the galactic alliance is in trouble so they come up with a government plot to get a group of terrorists to do their dirty work for them but it all goes wrong. With the state of the world now, it seems timely.

About 60% through my still un-named novel's second draft. Making some changes, finding all sorts of oddities, and having a blast reliving the story. It's amazing how I can read it and it feels like someone else's writing. There have been a few times I went 'Wow, that sounded really great! Who wrote this?' then a minute later 'What the hell was I thinking now? I don't even know what that means!' But it's fun. Doing a good session every day, and should have it ready for brave betas in a week.

This is the most nerve wracking thing I've done so far in my writing career: the dreaded novel beta. I'm excited but very nervous to see what people think of the book. I have no idea which direction it will go. While I hope to hear 'that was pure genius' I highly doubt that. At the least I hope there are elements of good writing and story in it.

I want to start on the sequel too, but am going to wait until I hear peoples thoughts on book one. In case I have some drastic changes to make first.:alien:

I took a break from sci-fi. I decided to write a mystery/comedy about motorcycles and began last Tuesday. It will be finished to first draft tomorrow and it's pretty good. I'm getting it beta tested as I go and it seems to be working which is good since it's an unconventional format. Should roll in around 75k words and I'm aiming for just a fun piece of light entertainment. It also contains my first sex-scene!
