What are you working on right now?

I'm polishing my SF novel Immortelle with the help of some very useful crits on this forum - and hoping someone here will offer to read through the entire MS (110 000 words) and give me that fresh reader's perspective I need....

Writing the first draft the third book of the trilogy. Got a nice little chapter, a break from the high drama (and potential child-burning :p ) of the previous chapter.

Ha. Actually, there is children-as-food humour in an (as yet unpublished) story I wrote. Orff No-Balsac is an equal opportunities eater of humans.

I'm trying to figure out how to have the energy to write anything with a one-month old around. Hope I figure it out... Stalled at 70k in my WiP (50% mark).

Read it to them as you work. Sort of a bedtime story in the works. Also 1 month olds are very non judgmental. They just enjoy your voice.

"So then Nalox disintegrated the nasty Zorg before it could engage the transmogrifier! What do you think kiddo? Disintegration? A bit much?"

LOL. :)

Finished a full edit of my WIP today, and handed it over to my first beta (and pretty tough critic), my partner. Dont worry, i expect a decent amount still to do on it before I come a-begging for betas from you fine people though

I'm free for a week... almost. I have a solid day of work today where ideas are taking shape within the fevered confines of my horribly damaged mind. I have two half days and then a free period of 4 (a whole 4) days off with an empty house and time to myself. This is unprecedented.
I'm going to lay the groundwork on the next book in the Hawk-Eye series. That seems oddly arrogant considering the first isn't even edited yet but it's beta-testing incredibly well and I'm riding on the crest of the enthusiasm and keen to get another one under my belt. I went out last night and bought a new motorcycle. It is going to be converted to be a cosmetic replica of the motorcycle in the story (I mentioned my horribly damaged mind.) We're building a website to accompany the story and I would guess we'll sit on this one until after Christmas and release it then with all the support in place (including pics of the 'actual' bike.) I had a great time writing the last one. It's a sci-fi featuring an over-cooked motorcycle. It should be terrible but it's great fun to write, at least.

A short story I was asked to submit to an anthology and once I'm done there it'll be edits for a novel I finished over the summer.

Always nice when you get asked :)

I've been making slow progress. Sleeping badly and mildly pestilent (very unusual for me, I suspect I ate something slightly dodgy). On the plus side, still getting something done, even though it's at a slow rate.

I desperately want to get on with my new story but I just got back the completed proof-read of my last novel and have to go through that now. I also agreed to read through a piece for a friend. It turned out to be a 47 page article about the development of the IT industry in Cambodia. It's like reading a coma. It's the most boring thing I've ever read and consequently, progress is slow.

Yay, despite a slight but not insignificant hangover, I managed to get some work done. I got the first two chapters written, only about 4500-5000 words but enough to get it started. I'm pretty happy with the tone, I think it reads like the last one but is different too.
