DISCUSSION -- July 2014 75-word Writing Challenge

Thank you Starbeast! Nice lot of alliterations there, a review that just rolls off the tongue. :)

You're wonderfully whimsically welcomed Juliana. It's the poet in me for the alliteration.

Hi Benst

Nice to see you again my friend.

I've been occupied too this month and last with basement repairs. Argh. Lousey rotten chipmunks, digging holes around my home. However, a cat took care of them (nature's way - I couldn't hurt them).

Hi BenSt, nice to see you back, and nice story, too! :)

And Starbeast, thank you for the very kind review!!! It's wonderful that folks review these contest stories--it really adds a certain charm to the proceedings! Hope the basement problems are all sorted out! CC

Thanks for the great review, Starby.

You're very welcome Farntfar.

You're mighty welcome Cat's. I agree about getting feedback, and Victoria does a tremendous job of reviewing (of course the pleasent, random comments from members is nice too).

As for the basement, hopefully (God willing) the problem will be squared away by the end of this month.

I take it you're not an evolutionist then.

Heh heh. No, I'm not an atheist.

Hi BenSt, welcome back and thanks! :)

You're very welcome Juliana. Aww, so many people missed me, I'm touched. And may I say you've selected a great theme & genre.

Thanks for the nice review, Starbeast!

You got it Johnnyjet. Keep em' flying.

Thank you for the zzzaaaaapppp review zzaaaapppp Starbeast. zaaaapppp.

I love a good shoot out.

thanks for the review SB, glad it made you chuckle... but it's Mr Smith, not Mr Hot Pants, although the recommended Zeit Travel Lead Protective Time-Space Radiation Undergarments would get a bit sweaty i suppose...

I've just had one of those wonderful moments when you write out your story, panicking because it is so long, mentally working out which words have to go when you edit, then finding you are well under 75 when you count them :D

Ah, the legendary Under 75...I had heard the tales, but never dreamed they could reflect a true reality. It sounds wonderful, PM! :)

Look forward to reading your story!! CC

The circle of life... just off camera all those lions were feasting on chipmunks, don't you know ;).

Thankyou! I hit the busy period at my work place and because I work and live with/for my parents I rarely had time in the evenings to be creative and sit down.

Hi BenSt, welcome back and thanks! :)

Good to be back :)

Posted an entry - a bit of an oddball and will not be to everyone's liking I think. Still, I couldn't get it out of my head.

I've got one written - actually, I have two written, but one would only be comprehensible to visitors to my dragonverse, so is not suitable. I will not be missing posting this month, though voting might be a trifle complicated, as I will be popping to Switzerland to rebuild chocolate stocks (I don't know why I bother. None of those who suggested they might come down and visit have shown the slightest tendency, her Honour's white cowers in the fridge… perchance LonCon), but should have some access to the internet, and am duly anonamising and saving entries as they arrive.

Trouble is, I don't like that idea all that much, and am holding back waiting for something completely different.

Thank you Victoria and Starbeast! It's always lovely to get reviews.

Weak compared to everyone else's which are extraordinary.

I wouldn't say your entry was weak at all, it made me feel quite sad and being able to evoke emotion in a reader is a powerful thing to do.
Also, the advice Starbeast gave you was good, I always feel a little bit like my writing is weaker if I've rushed it, but sometimes it's just far too exciting!

Mr Orange -- The author creates a mysterious and intriguing situation which is resolved with a wonderful punchline.

Juliana -- An original fantasy theme is blended with fine characterization to result in a gripping tale.

Starbeast -- The strong emotional appeal of this story proves that even the isolation of deep space can be overcome.

MatterSack -- Through an imaginative speculative idea, the author explores profound questions about the nature of humanity.

farntfar -- This seemingly innocent comedy sneaks up on the reader with an unexpected biting twist.

michaelhall2007 -- This thought-provoking examination of the nature of reality also manages to provoke a chuckle.

BenSt -- The author offers us a glimpse into the future, and makes it seem very real.

reiver33 -- This dark and violent story makes the reader wonder about the dangers of our own creations.

Abernovo -- Hard science fiction is combined with timeless truths about human relationships to create a moving tale.

StilLearning -- Through the use of a realistic depiction of the future, the author reminds us of the cycle of time.

Thanks for the review, Victoria. :)
