The Walking Dead - Season 5 and onwards

Teaser. May be new here?

Yes, you're correct.

I have tried to avoid spoiling too much. AMC's PR engine hasn't really stopped since the midseason finale even if I've get on low fire. But I got a feeling they read some of our comments and the second half is going to be much better than first half of the season 7.

Yup. We're their focus group. :D

I see now. Aliens zapped everyone in the Walking Dead world with lasers.
Maybe have a flashback to that in the season 9 finale or whenever the series ends :D

Lennie James on second half of season 7. I hope we get more Gabriel.

War time is a time which trust is important. For Rick's group on The Walking Dead, the trust factor might be a major issue when taking on Negan and the Saviors.

A few weeks ago, the synopsis for the back half of The Walking Dead's seventh season was released. In it, the new focus "to defeat Negan" was revealed but a particular sentence stood out for fans worried about their beloved Alexandrians and Hilltoppers. "We'll see treachery from people we trust," the synopsis said.

Now, Morgan Jones actor Lennie James has confirmed one of the good guys is going to go bad.

"On one level, it’s very obvious that we’re getting ready for war, and everyone who knows the comic books knows that we’re about to go into a couple of years of war," James said. "I don’t know how long that’s going to pan out in the television series, but it goes on for a while in the comics. So we’re about to go to war, and the second block [of eight episodes] is about meeting the protagonists and certain events that are going to decide what sides people take. And it’s not going to be a clear division of labour, let me say."

Here's where things get worrysome...

"There are some people who go to the dark side who are going to take you by surprise, and there are some people who are going to come over to the light – and that’s all a matter of perspective," James said.

Comic book fans are immediately racking their brains to figure out who could betray Rick and the group in favor of Negan. The only character who could do such a thing is Gregory, who warns Negan and the Saviors when Rick plans to march on the Sanctuary. However, his betrayal would not exactly take anyone by surprise. With character like Morgan, Carol, and Daryl filling roles which didn't exist at this point in the comics, one has to wonder if it could be one of them.

"As with this show, nothing’s going to move in a straight line. But one of the things that’s inevitable is that we’re heading to war."

Oh I love when the producers clash on each other. It's just Kirkman has the final word as it's his world.

The Walking Dead executive producer Gale Anne Hurd was quoted last week (by CBR) as saying, "We were able to look at the feedback on the level of violence [...] we did tone it down for episodes we were still filming for later on in the season."

It seemed that Hurd was confirming there had been complaints about the bloodletting of season 7 episode 1, and the show's future violence was being toned down to keep the fans happy.

However, showrunner Scott Gimple and executive producer/director Greg Nicotero have now told Entertainment Weekly that fan feedback hasn't caused a reduction in the violence of the show after all.

Apparently Nicotero responded to the suggestion of feedback causing a change with a flat "No", before adding, "As brutal as that episode 1 was, it’s still part of our storytelling bible, which is what the world is about. I don’t think we would ever edit ourselves, and I think — even after looking at that episode 1 again — as tough as it was for people to watch, I don’t think we would have done it any differently. I don’t think we’ll ever pull ourselves back. There is definitely a difference between violence against walkers and human on human violence, but truthfully, we’re serving our story."

"The violence in the premiere was pronounced for a reason," stated Gimple, the series' current showrunner. "The awfulness of what happened to the characters was very specific to that episode and the beginning of this whole new story. I don’t think like that’s the base level of violence that necessarily should be on the show. It should be specific to a story and a purpose, and there was a purpose of traumatizing these characters to a point where maybe they would have been docile for the rest of their lives, which was Negan’s point. But I will say again, the violence in the premiere was for a specific narrative purpose and I would never say that that’s the baseline amount of violence that we would show on the show. If we’re ever going to see something that pronounced, there needs to be a specific narrative purpose for it."

Parasitic zombie science

For instance, studies of Toxoplasma, a parasite that lives in many mammals – including humans – suggest it manipulates its host’s behaviour by modifying levels of the hormone dopamine.

“At this time we really don’t know what mechanism E. set is using to manipulate B. pallida’s behaviour,” says Weinersmith. “It’s possible that the parasitoid is releasing some compound – like a hormone – or multiple compounds that might induce this behaviour in its host.”
Parasite turns wasp into zombie then drills through its head

She thinks E. set might qualify as a “hypermanipulator” – a species that manipulates a species that, in turn, manipulates another.

David Hughes at Penn State University, who has studied other examples of hypermanipulation, agrees that the research points clearly in the same direction. But he says sceptics might demand concrete evidence of how E. set manipulates B. pallida before they accept the claim.

Sonequa Martin-Green deftly dodges answering the question of whether her lead role on Discovery means doom for Sasha on The Walking Dead:

Well, I can’t say anything. I can say that the story is as impactful and powerful and dynamic as it always has been, and there’s nothing to worry about where that’s concerned.

TWD Showrunner Scott Gimple, on the other hand, is much more adamant—almost too adamant—that Sasha is sticking around for the foreseeable future, even with Martin-Green’s commitments to Trek:

Sonequa Martin-Green can do anything. I’ve seen her battle a horde of walkers this year while simultaneously battling a stomach flu that would have had most people crying in the dirt. She can fulfill the duties of a Lieutenant Commander on a Constitution-class starship whilst battling walkers, Saviors, and whatever gets in Sasha’s way. We’ve had to juggle before. I will certainly juggle for Star Trek any day of the week. Okay, maybe not on Sunday.

I'm starting to get excited for the second part of the series.
Looking forward to Carol's reaction to Glenn's death. Will it bring her out of her self imposed Exile?

I say Glenn cause I feel Carol considers,Rick, his children, Daryl, Maggie and Glenn as her family. The others including Michon, Carol would kill in a heartbeat if she considered them a threat.

Carol and Carl are my pet hates in TWD, I find them both incredibly irritating.

I'm not too fussed on Rick, he's way to unpredictable. You wouldn't trust him to not do something ridiculous (the actor does a great job). My favourite characters are Michone and Darryl.

This certainly raises hopes for a great second half. TWD will back on 12th and Fear will return at April 2nd.

If you thought you were excited for The Walking Dead to return, you definitely aren't the only one. As they've expressed over the last couple of weeks, neither the cast nor crew can wait for the midseason premiere.

In a recent interview with EW, producer Greg Nicotero had some strong words for these upcoming episodes. In fact, he called next week's midseason premiere one of the best of the season.
The Walking Dead: Greg Nicotero Says Next Episode Is One Of The Best Of The Season

“I’m very excited,” said Nicotero. “I think episode nine is one of the best of the season, by far, in terms of storytelling, in terms of performances, in terms of audience expectations of seeing the band back together and putting our group back on their feet again. It’s very exciting and quite a bit of fun, and the season builds and builds up to an absolutely thrilling finale.

Not only is the premiere great, but he says the finale of the season is 'absolutely thrilling'.

Can't next week get here any sooner?!

The Walking Dead returns for the rest of its seventh season on February 12 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC. Fear the Walking Dead's third season does not yet have a premiere date but with The Walking Dead finale set for April 2, expectations for Fear's return are set for April 9.

With Sonequa Martin-Green soon-to-be starring role on Star Trek: Discovery most every fan of The Walking Dead expects Sasha to meet her maker in the second half of Season 7.

Martin-Green has be quiet on that subject but was a little more vocal on what audiences will see from her character in what may be the last few episodes of survival.

The short version is, an attempt to kill Negan. The long version is more detailed.

"We’ve all come together, and that’s a beautiful thing," she told EW. "It took us a long time to get back together, and everybody’s been on their separate paths of, really, self-discovery and also figuring out, how are we going to move forward? How do I fit in this new world? We’ve all been on our separate paths doing that, and I think that the first half of the season was such an arduous one. It was so painstaking trudging uphill trying to figure this new world out.

"And so I am in a similar mindset that everyone else is in. We realize that we are conquerors, and we’ve made it. We’ve made it back together, and that’s victory enough to give us some pep in our step, you know? So I’m ready to see what we can do together, and I’ve never taken my eye off of Negan. I know what I believe needs to be done, and I’m ready to see if we can come up with a plan that will work together."

In the synopsis for Season 7 Episode 9, "Rock in the Road", it teases the communities coming together.

Best Superbowl commercial of 2017, so far ...

It's even better on Full HD. For some reason Youtube avoid showing me anything TWD related. It is almost as if they know I write about it and the other dead in here and in my Necromorphosis trilogy.
