The Walking Dead - Season 5 and onwards

Hhhmmm, this is interesting development.

The Walking Dead may be headed for the coast!

Stalwart Films, a production company behind The Walking Dead, gained permission from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to film along the beach at Jekyll Island in Georgia. Of course, the AMC series is currently set in Alexandria, Virginia, so this location will be playing the role of an Atlantic Ocean bordering beach or Virginia lake.

The scene being filmed by Stalwart Films at Jekyll Island is described to contain part of a human corpse, which will be half buried in a tidal pool. No word on which cast members or characters will be a part of the scene but it will likely pop up around the midseason finale or premiere in season 7 given the current status of production.

The studio with which The Walking Dead shoots has been gearing up for some scenes to be shot in open water for some time now. The type of shoot isn't ringing any bells from the comics (unless it's covering A LOT of ground in 8 episodes) as much as it is sounding like something out of companion series Fear the Walking Dead.

"We've definitely had a busy few years and this spring and summer has been a culmination of a lot off different projects in the film industry," says Scott McQuade, President and CEO of the Golden Isles Convention and Visitors Bureau.

In The Walking Dead's Season 6 midseason finale, titled "Thank You," Nicholas (Michael Traynor) and Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun) got cornered by a whole slew of walkers in a fenced-in area. They stab and shoot as many as they can, but quickly run out of ammo -- except for one bullet. With the walkers closing in on them and running out of options, they climb atop a dumpster. Nicholas realizes they are in a no-win situation, loses his sh-t, turns to Glenn, who is pleading with him to focus, says "Thank you," and shoots himself in the head. Nicholas's body collides with Glenn and they fall to the ground.

It appeared as though Glenn was a goner and the walkers may have been feasting on his innards. But in the midseason premiere, it was revealed that Nicholas's body had fallen on top of Glenn's, allowing the walkers to dine on Nicholas and for Glenn to safely hide under the dumpster.

Many have wondered what went through Nicholas's head, other than that bullet, during that key moment. What was his intention? Was it cowardly? Malicious? Or, was it heroic?

"It's not a malicious act... it's just utter terror," Yeun told TV Guide. "That really might have been the best for Nicholas to sacrifice himself for Glenn. That he would knock him over and land on top of him, and then be a literal distraction so he can crawl underneath the dumpster. So in the end, maybe Nicholas is a hero."

Executive Producer Gale Anne Hurd added, "I tend to look at a glass and see it as half full. I'd like to believe his last act truly was heroic, rather than cowardly."

To the friends, fans, and curious, committed, the uninitiated, and the OGs, you know the beginning and it’s almost here. Enjoy your summer, because the beginning is someone’s end. But it is a beginning. What happens in episode one will shatter the lives of those who survive and will render the narrative in different trajectories. In which we will see our characters in completely new situations torn from the pages of the comic and remixed in The Walking Dead Remixnator 5000.

We’ll see all new all different worlds with new friends, enemies and other. With alignments ranging from lawful good to chaotic evil and all the neutrals in between.

We’ll see unthinkable dangers from the damnedest of places. Yes, there will be blood, but there will also be cobbler. We kid you not. There’s going to be a hard goodbye in the beginning, but you know that, and it’s almost here. As Simon says, be good to each another.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens, when they reveal, who received the bat!

During The Walking Dead Season 7 Preview Special, Lennie James and Melissa McBride teased what’s ahead for Morgan and Carol. As fans learned in the Season 7 trailer which debuted at Comic Con last month, the two characters with opposing views are headed to a new location: The Kingdom.

The Kingdom will become a major component to the civilization Rick Grimes is trying to build in time but, first, we have to meet the community and its leader Ezekiel. "I can't wait for people to see the episode where [Ezekiel is] introduced," McBride says. "The character is so special because he's just big from the comic books. I don't think the fans are gonna be disappointed."

"Morgan ends up on the road to the Kingdom," James teases. "It will be interesting and one of the things that excited me about the episodes coming up is how Morgan survives in this particular group without Rick as an anchor and without Rick over his shoulder saying, 'I'm gonna put you in this cell.' This is Morgan meeting people as Morgan, who have no knowledge of him and have no knowledge of his history. One of the things that's most interesting to me about Morgan is he smiles in the Kingdom. It will be interesting to find out why that happens."

With the unlikely duo paired up heading into the coming episodes, the two actors are excited for the audience to experience their dynamic. "One of the things I've enjoyed most in Season 6 and looking forward to in Season 7 is where Melissa and I get to take our characters," James says, with McBride adding, "It'll be very interesting to see these two together in Season 7."

OMG ROFL

According to Gale Anne Hurd, The Walking Dead almost wound up on NBC as a procedural about solving weekly zombie crimes...

Back when current juggernaut property The Walking Dead was just an indie comic book series about the seemingly generic premise of a zombie apocalypse, it’s understandable that pitches to networks about a TV adaptation would be met with different industry-minded ideas. As a for-instance, it seems that the folks over at NBC imagined Rick Grimes and co. nabbing undead crooks every week.

Addressing the audience at an Edinburgh International TV Festival masterclass, The Walking Dead executive producer Gale Anne Hurd recalled a rather humorous anecdote from the project’s nascent days. The then-would-be TV series adapting Robert Kirkman’s comic book series, still under the auspices of show creator Frank Darabont, received some crucial facetime with executives at NBC with whom the show initially had an overall deal. Hurd recollects a stupendously surreal question asked by an unnamed executive upon hearing Darabont's pitch (via Variety):

“'Do there have to be zombies [in it]?'” NBC then asked Darabont if the show could be a procedural in which the two main protagonists would “solve a zombie crime of the week.”

While Darabont walked into that room carrying gravitas from writing and directing acclaimed films such as The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile, his pitch for The Walking Dead was nevertheless met with incredulous feedback reflecting a stereotypically in-the-box mindset and a lack of understanding of the property. According to Hurd, what seemed to vex the NBC exec is the rather basic notion that is still primarily the ethos of the TWD mythology itself as the show readies Season 7: ““It’s not about the zombies it’s about the humans.”

Could be wrong, but I've heard Channel 5 doesn't have the rights to the sixth series and beyond. Ah well.

Even since The Walking Dead closed in April, fans have asked one question: Who the heck did Negan kill? The question is a fair one as the Season 6 finale did end with Negan bludgeoning an unknown member of Rick’s group with his barb-wire bat, Lucille. With the show slated to return in October, the cast has warned fans nothing can prepare them for what's all in store. And, now, Melissa McBride (Carol Pelettier) is reassuring fans their wait will be worth it.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, the actress spoke about the reactions fans had over the finale. The ending left long-time viewers split as some found it compelling while others bashed its paltry shock-value. “Oh, I’ve heard it. I’ve heard it all,” McBride said “But, you know, it’s entertaining. It’s compelling and some people like cliffhangers, some people hate them, and that’s just part of the experience.”

As for the premiere of Season 7, the actress said, “Oh God, it’s going to rock the walls. The wait is worth it. Whether you’re angry with it or whether you liked the cliffhanger or whether you’re pissed off about it, the wait is worth it.”

While McBride wasn’t able to say anything more about the series’ return, she did hint her character isn’t the one who meets Lucille. The actress described how her mother had fretted over her daughter being kill on the show. When her mom asked if Carol is the one who dies, the actress reminded her she wasn’t even in the finale’s controversial scene. That, however, hasn’t stopped fans from asking McBride to spill the show’s biggest secret.

She said, “They ask and it’s a lot of me saying, “If I could tell you, would you really want me to tell you?” And then they’re like, “No. I want to know, but I want to wait. I don’t want to know. I don’t know if I want to know. It’s driving me nuts!”

Of course, McBride isn’t the very cast member to speak out about the upcoming season of The Walking Dead. Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan) told fans at a recent convention they were “gonna’ be really, really wishing that the cliffhanger had never ended after the first episode back, so be careful what you wish for.” The show’s executive producer also addressed Season 7’s premiere and said everything will “get a lot worse before it gets better.”

“You know, after directing the premiere episode, I was f--ked up for two weeks, you know? I really felt like I dragged a lot of my dearest friends into these really deep, dark places shooting that episode, and it’s been definitely an experience unlike anything that I’ve ever handled before,” he said.

So, for now, fans will just have to wait until The Walking Dead returns on October 13th to decide for themselves whether the cast’s thoughts ring true.

Could be wrong, but I've heard Channel 5 doesn't have the rights to the sixth series and beyond. Ah well.

Problem probably is that BT bought AMC's stuff and they have sole rights for it. So if you're going to upgrade your net to fiber age, you might want to look into it.

I'll just go without, but hopefully that suggestion will prove helpful to anyone with more time/money/interest in the series than me [I enjoy it, but not that much].

While you'll have to wait to find out just who Negan kills in The Walking Dead season 7 premiere, you could get the chance to talk to the cast of the hit show before then.

That opportunity comes courtesy of Omaze, a fundraising campaign that allows users to donate funds and nab great prizes and a one of a kind experience in the process. The latest campaign benefits the Haiti Air Ambulance, a nonprofit organization that provides emergency helicopter services in Haiti to those who need it.

You can help them out in a number of ways, but whoever wins the grand price will have an opportunity to meet the cast of The Walking Dead in person at New York Comic-Con. It will include you and a friend, and will allow you to watch the Walking Dead panel in VIP seats. You'll be able to take a photo with the cast, and you'll also get passes to the rest of the NYCC events and panels, of which there are plenty. You and your friend will be flown out to the event, and while you're there you'll get to enjoy the amenities of a 4-star hotel.

Even if you don't win the grand prize, there are plenty of other worthwhile options up for grabs. These include T-shirts, video games, an autographed Walking Dead pop-up book, and an autographed Walking Dead guitar, which is signed by the entire cast.

You can find more details on their official page, which has 19 more days to go. You can find out more about the Haiti Air Ambulance on their official site.
Chance To Meet The Walking Dead Cast At New York Comic Con While Supporting A Good Cause

The Walking Dead's seventh season is a tightly knit secret. Everyone involved is being poked left and right for answers or clues but they've held it together (with a few slight slips) for the most part.

One piece of the puzzle is Lennie James. Although his Morgan Jones character's fate doesn't hang in the balance of Negan's game of eenie-meenie-minie-moe, the actor is still questioned daily about what's going to happen when the AMC series returns next month.

James has come up with a solution.

“I’ve kind of done two things,” James says. “One, I’ve stopped speaking to people. And two, you have to get very single-minded about protecting this particular story line and trying your best to stay true to it everywhere. People will just whisper something in your ear when you’re at the store or when you’re at the supermarket thinking that you’ll turn around and divulge some piece of information, but so far I think I’m doing okay.”

People even try to prod James, one of the few remaining cast members around from the show's first season, about his own character's fate.

“It’s weird because there have been a few people who have said, ‘Well at least you’re not dead, so we know that for sure,’" he says. "And I go, ‘Well you kind of know that for sure because I’m not one of the people knelt down in front of Negan.’ I mean, that would have to be a really big bat for him to swing it from where he is and for it to hit me where I am. So yeah, it’s no great revelation. I at least make it past that particular situation.”

Hardcore fans know that Morgan is heading to the Kingdom when the show returns, with King Ezekiel and pet tiger Shiva set to make their debut in the third episode of the coming season.
Lennie James Has Stopped Speaking To People Because Of The Walking Dead Cliffhanger

Bless him. I know people can be annoying, but stopping to speak to them seem as if they don't respect famous people. Personally I find that interesting, because I have no problem on letting famous people just be themselves, and do their things instead of bugging them around with whining about things they're not in control.

All this makes me wonder will Jeffrey Dean Morgan start receiving hate after they reveal who he will be killing in the October.

Carol's avid fans were relieved to see the character is healing from her physical wounds in The Walking Dead's season 7 trailer. Mentally, though, she may continue her struggles to grasp on to who she is and who she wants to be.

It's no secret that a huge portion of the fan base hopes to see Carol find love with Daryl and while the character is recovering, someone like Daryl could be a handy pillar of support.

Carol's choices surprised fans before her apparent loss of a will to live when she sparked a sudden romance with Tobin at Alexandria. The true fans supported her happiness but the Season 6 finale showed us that a relationship isn't necessarily what Carol needs. As she sought out a form of normalcy in Alexandria, she realized it may be harder to find that she originally thought.

So, going into Season 7, will Carol bounce back and look for love once more? We asked Carol actress Melissa McBride during an exclusive interview.

"This is a different season," McBride says of Carol's relationship status. "She's definitely got some healing to do in her mind and where she wants to be on this earth, or she wants to stick around or what."

Ah, the old I-have-to-work-on-myself trick, huh, Carol?

"As the world is expanding, it's still closing in at the same time in a very weird way, but who knows," McBride says. "I think she's just got to get her mind right before she can even entertain any sort of relationship. I think it's just difficult for her to have a relationship of any kind. Where we left off, if you care for somebody, you're going to have to kill for them, and again, she's just not sure she's in that place."

Carol will have plenty on her plate as it is when we see her again. With Ezekiel set to debut in the third episode of the season, Carol will not only meet the leader of the Kingdom but also his pet tiger, Shiva.

That said, while everyone is wondering if Carol's relationship with Tobin will find new life or she'll ever make a move on Daryl Dixon, someone will have to fill Michonne's void with Ezekiel in the relationship the two formed in The Walking Dead comics. Perhaps Carol will bounce back from the her place of mental isolation, a similar state of mind the comic book Michonne was in at the time, and open up to Ezekiel.

With new episodes of The Walking Dead right around the corner, the coming season promises to be bigger than ever. The time of Rick's group being the sole focus of the show is over and Negan's reign will ring in new communities, threats, and hardships for our beloved survivors to encounter.

The writer and creator of the AMC and comic series is getting just as hyped as any of us for the upcoming season and has one word to describe it.

"I mean, the word is epic," Robert Kirkman says of The Walking Dead's seventh season.

"The show is expanding," he goes on. "We’re introducing the Kingdom, we already have the Hilltop, we’re going to be exploring more of the Saviors and the Sanctuary that they live in and more of what goes on around Negan, what his average daily life is, which is extremely interesting."

As Rick quickly learned in the season six finale, there is a lot more world out there than he originally thought. His group is no longer the top dog in the yard and they're far from the only dog.

"What we’re finding is there’s a lot of civilization out there," Kirkman says. "There are smaller groups here and there that actually have been thriving and it gets to be a little exciting because we’re going to be seeing how they’ve been surviving, and a lot of them have been getting by in a much different way than Rick and his group. So we’re meeting these people that have lived in this apocalyptic situation for as long as Rick Grimes and his crew, who we’ve been following since day one, but we haven’t seen their evolution and their progression. And so some of them grow to be like Negan’s group, some of them grow to be like Ezekiel’s group, some of them grow to be like Gregory’s group at the Hilltop, and the differences between these groups, and their ways of life, is going to be a lot of fun to explore this season."
Robert Kirkman Has One Word To Describe The Walking Dead Season 7

I've stopped listening to whatever Kirkman says after he expressed the urge to allow The Walking Dead to go into it's 90th season or whatever the hell it was.

He has no ending for the damn story, and he's going to milk this thing until it runs dry, and that will coincide with the death of Daryl...whom he will never kill off.

I guess even if he doesn't write an ending for the comics they would make an ending for the tv series after a few more years. Unless they don't mind continually bringing in different characters as the actors aren't going to continue forever, plus they age much more than the story progresses. I'm sure some of the Walking Dead cast would like to concentrate on making films. Plus from the average viewers chart it looked like the series peaked in season 5.
