Please note:

We invite (and indeed hope for) lively discussion and speculation about the stories as they are posted, so long as it doesn't involve the author explaining the plot.

You may begin!

Innocence in Science Fiction? Perhaps something involving those furry little chumps from Star Wars? What are they called? Ewoks or something.

They look innocent enough on the outside....

We've had innocence once before as a theme (June 2012) - not that I'm complaining since I got a novel out of it, and an agent - so there may be inspiration buried there. :)

I looked at this month's challenge and was chuffed to find that it fitted alongside a muse that’s been wriggling inside my head for a while, squirming to get out. When I typed it, I was dead happy to realise that it exacted the word count.

I’m looking forward to reading everyone else's stories. Very interesting theme.

Mrs Bowler picked the theme in her innocence. This time it's all SciFi and NannyBot is delighted to see a robot right off the starting line. You'd think picking a theme would give me an advantage, but Mrs Bowler has me stumped too, what can I say.

Well done, Ashleyne...a dark, disturbing tale, and a very effective take on innocence!

I don't think I can top Ashleyne's piece. It's extremely evocative and disturbing.

Ashleyne, your brilliance makes me feel tired and slow!

But please try, VALIS13!! There's so much time to find inspiration--we're only a few hours into the first day!

ps--use the inspiration that led to that brilliant last line of the recently completed coffee limerick!!! I LOLd! :)

If I use the limerick inspiration, it could lead us down a dark path...........

Thanks for the fantastic comments, CC and VALIS13.

I’m sure you’ll think of something, VALIS13. There’s still 22 days left. Hilarious limerick ending, by the way.

I'm in. A poor hackneyed pile of derivative nonsense, but I'M IN!!

Three wonderful new stories! Springs's tale, I think, had some great social commentary, VALIS13's contrasted beauty with danger and Bowler1's story gave me a giggle.

I'm in nice and early. Haven't even finished my first cup of coffee. I love to go dark as many people do but this month I decided to lighten it up. And after Ashleyne's post how could my darkness compete ;)

Razorlips *shudders*

Ah! Good old standard Science Fiction. And Innocence, I love it.

But it looks like the standard take on innocence is rather darker than mine.

Razorlips --- Shudder, I see a dark Edward Scissorhands here.
Minecrafting --- PeterPan gone very dark indeed.
(untitled) --- Sure to end with a mushroom cloud
Terrible Twos --- A two year old armed toddler robot with a case of the "mines."

But good stories all.

Parson hopes for some good stories about the gentleness and beauty of innocence.
