Discussion -- August 2014 75-Word Writing Challenge

Yes, we were pretty dark last time, too -- as usual. And it was probably about 50-50 between interpretations of "unsoiled" and "not guilty".

Thanks Springs. :) The idea came to me at 6:00 in the shower this morning.

I looked back to see what I did the last time and it was my Life is a Piece of Pie story which garnered me a couple votes! It was a light one too...on the not-guilty line

Thanks, ratsy and Parson, for the nice comments.

Your comic story made me laugh, ratsy!

I must say that Ashleyne's was a bit...morbid.

Debating on what to do for this one...the genre restriction isn't the easiest for the theme. There's a difference between innocence and innocent, actually...

Ashleyne. B. Watts -- Chilling surrealism and psychological insight are fused together to result in a dark jewel.

springs -- With a sure touch for telling details, the author creates a powerful fable about the things which distract us.

VALIS13 -- This open-ended tale of strange and dangerous things fires the imagination of the reader.

Bowler1 -- The author holds up a mirror of words, in which we can see ourselves more clearly than before.

ratsy -- This clever story combines black comedy with wordplay in a way which is sure to amuse.

mosaix -- With wit and good humor, the author points out the importance of clear communication.

Farntfar comes in with another one on my favorite theme -- though the lady in question may be pulling our legs if she expects to make it with the "innocence" bit. :D

Parson hopes for some good stories about the gentleness and beauty of innocence.

I was thinking along the same lines.

Hmmm, obviously I'm not understanding yours in the same way as TDZ, farntfar, but parts of it strike me as quite beautiful.

Thanks for the lovely review, Victoria. I always look forward to reading your reviews for everyone's stories, not just my own. I wish my life was like the character in your story.

Farntfar, I thought that your poem was cleverly beautiful.

Karn… thanks for your comment. Also, I like your tale’s delicious darkness.

Teresa Edgerton -- The author makes use of powerful symbols in this fable of the search for lost purity of soul.

Karn Maeshalanadae -- This story takes us deep within the darkest parts of the heart, and forces us to confront our own cruelty.

Thanks for the super review, Victoria,
and for the lovely comments TDZ, Teresa and Ashleyne.

I accept your analysis, TDZ, but maybe my conclusion is different than yours. ;)

Uhhh...I'm in...yikes! :)

Visitors from America have arrived, and I'll be busy for much of the next few weeks showing them around Finland--forgive my pending absence from the Challenge. Terrific stories so far, terrific poem! Good luck, with your individual muses, everyone! Great theme this month, Bowler! CC

Not having done this before, do we vote on our favourite at the end of the month or something?
