Are the Daleks still a credible Enemy Anymore ?

The Black Mirror episode with the autonomous robot dog weapons emphasised how feeble the daleks are as an enemy. Anyhow the Doctor always beats the daleks in the course of one episode, by shouting and waving the sonic screwdriver around.
I propose that the Doctor should face The Chibnall, a foe which bores you to death

The 1965 story "The Chase" seems to already be playing the Daleks for laughs. I knew it from the novelisation, so was a bit surprised to watch it and see the implacably pursuing elite Dalek Time Force behaving more like the Dalek Three Stooges.

Yes, I remember even as a kid seeing the Chase (when it came out on VHS) and being really annoyed at how silly it was. The part where the Daleks get attacked by animatronic haunted house monsters particularly infuriated me.

I have to admit though that in NuWho, when the Daleks and the Cybermen finally met, and the Daleks said, "This is not war... this is pest control", that was an amazing moment. Unfortunately squandered more or less.

There was the prior comment 'Outline resembles the inferior species known as Cybermen " :D

I think NuWho managed to made them a proper formidable enemy again in the Eccleston episode Dalek, Quiet slow relentless and deadly, everything after that was in a steady chip away at that foundation. The Jammy Dodger moment, Would you like some tea and the Hybrid Dalek from the New York episode all being low points.

They are a swarm of locusts that devour all in their path and thats how they should be written .... make them proper scary.

Same as the Cybermen, they used to be Silent and Relentless now its STOMP STOMP STOMP there is no fear in that at all.

They also need to bring back Julian Bleach as Davros he was just superb.

DAvros - "People and planets and stars will become dust. And the dust will become atoms and the atoms will become... nothing."

Brian said it all. In the old days, if you had a Dalek problem, you just walked upstairs. Not anymore, possums. ;)

In Dr Who and The Daleks , he cuts off the power and the Daleks all die and yet the Daleks manage to somehow miraculously come back from the dead and successfully invade Earth.:D

I don't remember if this is explained in the movie but the show more or less explains that the Daleks encountered in the first story were one of several offshoots, with the ones invading earth coming from a different lineage.

Probably those that invaded earth directly from those in Gneiss of the Daleks. But still it leave the question od what wouldn't the city Daleks have had a backup self contained power source in case the city power transmission system shuts down. Considering how strategic minded the Daleks were , not having a self contained back up power supply is a strategic weakness.

The Daleks were never designed to be credible ememies; they were designed to scare the **** out of the kids watching. And they succeeded. Watching tv from behind the sofa was now a thing.

Scary kids TV was a common theme back in the 60s and 70s.
