Anyone got an idea where this is located?

No idea from the image, but surely based on the story it must be in Mexico. Perhaps near the US border.

There are changes afoot as Fear The Walking Dead heads into the second half of Season 2. We spoke to actors Alycia Debnam-Carey, who plays Alicia, and Colman Domingo, who plays Victor Strand, to find out what’s in store.

Debnam-Carey promises “a lot more action on the horizon that changes [Alicia] in the long term,” while Domingo is looking forward to seeing how Strand’s increasing bond with the family is changing him. “I think he’s someone who’s been very controlled about exactly what he’ll let in his life and what he won’t… In a strange way he feels like [the Clarks are] becoming the thing that he didn’t have or think that he needed or wanted, possibly, which was family. And now that he’s getting it he doesn’t know what to do with it.”

The show has moved to Mexico for Season 2b, which Debnam-Carey says has “given our show a completely different look and feel, which I love, and it changes the themes of the show too. There’s a whole different spiritual and strangely religious element to this season purely because of the culture that exists in that area, the superstitions and the traditions.”

“It seemed like we were doing episode after episode and there was some conversation about faith,” Domingo says, “and I realised that’s a huge thing, that people would be trying to examine who they are. If you have nothing else, what do you believe in?”

The show is also differentiating itself from its parent show, The Walking Dead, and while Domingo loves playing an original character (“When Strand comes in it’s like ‘what is that?’ because [the audience] have never seen this, possibly. I personally don’t think I’ve seen [a character like] Strand on television”), Debnam-Carey is really interested in seeing where the two shows will end up.

“Wherever The Walking Dead and wherever our show ends up, I’d be very interested to see how different those two groups are, and if they are very very different, or if they just become the same… Maybe they [both] become numb and feral and primitive, or is one group like that but the other’s found another way to survive?… Only time will tell.”

Ever since the word first came out that The Walking Dead would receive a companion series, the fans clamored in excitement at the thought of seeing character from The Walking Dead appear on another series outside of their yearly 16 episodes. However, when Fear the Walking Dead was announced as being a prequel to the hit AMC series on the opposite coast of the country, fans' hopes were dashed.

Several times since Fear the Walking Dead was announced and has begun airing, everyone involved has been asked about the possibilities of a crossover. At times, the thought has been ruled out but others have seen teases of a possible link way down the line.

Today, ComicBook.com spoke to Fear the Walking Dead producer Dave Erickson and got his thoughts on the matter. The possibilities not only look grim, but are being completely ruled out for the time being.

"As of right now, no, there is no plan," Erickson says. "From a narrative perspective, nevermind the geography of it all, I think it would be too difficult to pull off. I don't think there's anything, as far as I've read in the comic, I don't think there's any trackway for that either. It's such a complicated proposition and I think for the time being, the two shows just need to exist in their own spheres."

Trying to further the possibilities or toss some ideas into the mix, we suggested bringing the long lost character of Morales from The Walking Dead into Fear's story line but Erickson didn't comment. Instead, he got a good chuckle from the idea.

Lincoln goes on to say that the arrival of Negan has "breathed a new terrifying life into the show, and at no better time" and to praise Jeffrey Dean Morgan's performance:

“I think everybody got a sense of what this actor is capable of in the last episode. But rest assured that that’s really just the beginning of what Jeffrey is creating."

“It’s such a great part and it’s so beautifully written. And he’s such an important part of the show, this character, that we needed an actor that could step up and take the bull by the horns and drag it forward, and make it his own. And certainly, that’s what we have this season.”

Rest eight episodes will air before the FTWD will return on the small screen. Life at the US border has never been as hard as it is portrayed in the Fear. I think there's going to be a lot that we'll learn about what happened over there while Rick's team were between Hershel's Farm and The Prison.

The Wrap reports that Daniel Sharman, seen in Teen Wolf and The Originals, has signed up as a series regular. He's set to play a character named Troy, who has "a wild temperament and [is] suspicious of outsiders". Troy "is charismatic with a cruel streak."

Speaking of newcomers to the cast, TV Line reported a while back that Buffy The Vampire Slayer alumna Emma Caulfield has been cast in a mystery role. It's unclear whether she'll be playing a recurring role or is just a guest star in the zombie drama. AMC confirmed the casting, but did not reveal who Caulfield is playing.

And the synopsis for this year

"As Fear The Walking Dead returns for season three, our families will be brought together in the vibrant and violent ecotone of the U.S.-Mexico border. International lines done away with following the world’s end, our characters must attempt to rebuild not only society, but family as well. Madison (Kim Dickens) has reconnected with Travis (Cliff Curtis), her apocalyptic partner, but Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) has been fractured by her murder of Andres. Madison’s son mere miles from his mother, Nick’s (Frank Dillane) first action as a leader saw Luciana (Danay Garcia) ambushed by an American militia group — the couple escaped death, but Nick no longer feels immortal. Recovering both emotionally and physically, Strand (Colman Domingo) has his sights set on harnessing the new world’s currency, and Ofelia’s (Mercedes Mason) captivity will test her ability to survive and see if she can muster the savagery of her father."

Fear The Walking Dead, the earlier-on-in-the-timeline companion series to The Walking Dead, will be returning later this year. Today, we've got an interesting nugget of information about the show: showrunner Dave Erickson will step down after season 3.

Erickson will stay on as an executive producer, and he's also signed an overall deal with AMC, the network behind The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead. The official party line, according to Variety, is that he's stepping down as showrunner "in order to develop projects" with the network.

But still, it will be interesting to see who steps in as his replacement and how the show changes under new management.

"We’re beyond grateful for Dave’s amazing work on the first three seasons of Fear The Walking Dead", said AMC's Joel Stillerman. "With Dave as showrunner, the series fulfilled its creative promise to expand the Walking Dead universe in a way that was totally unique from the original series, and has gone on to become the number two drama series in ad-supported cable, behind only The Walking Dead.

"We are also incredibly excited that Dave has chosen to stay in the AMC family to pursue his next passion project. We look forward to many more successful collaborations."

AMC might be wrapping FTWD after this year and putting TWD on hold after next season finishes.

That article doesn't seem to suggest that does it? I don't think a showrunner change will pause developments.

The Fear The Walking Dead season 4 renewal news comes with the intriguing caveat of a shakeup in the showrunner slot.

In late March, it was revealed that the spinoff series’ current showrunner Dave Erickson will step down upon the conclusion of season 3. Having signed a multi-year deal with AMC, Erickson will subsequently remain under the network umbrella for other projects.

Now, this is where things get interesting. With the season 4 renewal comes the news that AMC has brought Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg, formerly of ABC’s Once Upon a Time, onboard as co-showrunners, starting with season 4.

"We love this universe and are truly honored to have the chance to contribute to it," said Chambliss and Goldberg in a statement.

Scott M. Gimple - the current showrunner of the main show, The Walking Dead - has also boarded Fear The Walking Dead, as an executive producer.
