Fear The Walking Dead [Warning: Contains spoilers for Seasons up to S6]

Some spoilers

Standing in the middle of a remote Mexican valley in Tijuana, only accessible by an ‘upgraded’ dirt track that threatened to dislodge both the production vans' wheels and maybe a few spines, I suddenly felt utterly vindicated from any time during an interview when I’d asked about location enhancing an actors’ performance. With rolling hills, quite literally as far as the eye could see, it was impossible not to be overwhelmed by the majestic beauty of the dusty, yet strangely fertile landscape, and that was before even setting eyes on the incredible work that production designer Bernardo Trujillo and his crew had integrated into a new setting for Fear The Walking Dead simply called ‘The Ranch’.

When the group returns on Sunday night, they will do so in new locations, which Debnam-Carey tells BT makes for an "absolutely" new season. "I think they definitely upped the pace and they upped the action," Debnam-Carey said. "They added some great new characters as well. It adds a whole new element of power dynamics and power struggles which is really cool. We are in a bigger environment and world together that is really exciting for us to explore. It’s made everything a lot more energised."

Alicia only recently lost her boyfriend as he fell victim to the zombie apocalypse. She has been forced to quickly move on but the actress portraying her simply says, "Maybe," when it comes to future romantic possibilities.

"If there is it wouldn’t be a romance in the pure, current sense of the word," Debnam-Carey said. "It would be more of an apocalyptic relationship – but I really can’t reveal anymore!"

Following Sunday's midseason 3 finale of Fear the Walking Dead, the midseason premiere date has been revealed.

Following a two-month hiatus, Fear the Walking Dead will return on Sunday, September 10 at 9 pm ET on AMC. The back half of the season will run through the end of Fall TV season, leading to the premiere of The Walking Dead's eighth season in October. For The Walking Dead, a premiere date has not yet been announced, but will come from San Diego Comic Con later this month, along with new trailers for both series.

Holding Fear the Walking Dead's next episodes until September prevents the AMC series from competing with the highly anticipated seventh season of Game of Thrones on HBO.

The actress, who plays Ofelia Salazar on the AMC series, took to social media to announce she and husband David Denman are expecting a baby boy. "David Denman and I are pregnant (or this is the biggest burrito I've ever eaten!) and so excited," Mason wrote on Instagram. "Feels so good to share our happy news. Thank you to all of our friends who came by to wish us well."

I guess Ofelia won't see the end of the season.

Could be she has already filmed her scenes for this season, and that was before she knew she was pregnant. Could be a big problem for the following season.

What else can we expect from 3B?

It continues to get grittier, darker and bloodier, I would say. 3B, I find, is very surprising. You’re never comfortable, which is what I like about it. You’re continually in a state of being like, ‘Oh god, I can’t believe that happened,’ and then you’re onto the next thing that’s surprising and interesting. I really love the direction of the next half of the season. I think it’s going to go to surprising places, and you see the world in this much more— the first part is about establishing. The second half is about unraveling it. That’s always a really fascinating topics.

At Comic-Con this summer, Robert Kirkman said he’d like to do a The Walking Dead/Fear The Walking Dead crossover. What are your thoughts on that?

I think that would be a bad idea. I know! Here’s my reasoning: the thing is I think what’s amazing about this world that’s been created over both shows is that the scale of it is so massive, and I think personally not only do you have to deal with the time jump, you also have to deal with the fact that if they do cross over in some way then the world becomes smaller. What’s lovely about both shows is, I think, tonally they’re very different shows, but also the fact that they deal so specifically with a certain area and certain people is really interesting. That’s a huge benefit for the show. You could pick a place in any part of the world and tell a totally different story. I think if they mix and they merge in that way, you end up making the world smaller. It’s almost too convenient at that point. What I love about it is that they don’t cross over.

If they crossed over, the groups would probably either have to stay together for a while or kill each other.

Exactly! If they did a crossover, I think it would have to be coincidental and very brief. That might be an interesting thing. But the idea that the worlds will merge and they’ll end up living among each other, I don’t know. For me, I just think it would be too obvious. A bit gimmicky.
Fear The Walking Dead’s Daniel Sharman: “A Walking Dead crossover is a bad idea”

The only crossover I would approve is Abraham, Rosita and Eugene meet before they travel to North.

If there was an award for "Most Improved Show," Fear the Walking Dead would unquestionably win it for its 2017 run. Still, it's about to get even better.

Launching Fear the Walking Dead's third season, the series took out Travis Manawa, the character many suspected to be in a leading role for the long haul. It was the first true sign (with many to follow) of the show fully embracing the apocalypse Walking Dead fans have known for years. According to Victor Strand actor Colman Domingo, the quality of Fear the Walking Dead will continue to get better.
Catching Up To 'The Walking Dead' Has Made 'Fear' Better

"I credit [showrunner] Dave Erickson and his writing team," Domingo said. "I credit AMC for having the patience for our show to unfold at a slower pace actually than [The Walking Dead]."

Erickson, who will be exiting Fear the Walking Dead at the conclusion of its third season once he submits his final episode later this month, is getting high praise from Domingo.

"I credit truly Dave Erickson and his vision," Domingo said. "I think that he's such a dynamic showrunner and writer and I think if you think Season Three already has been pretty awesome, the back half of the season is pretty epic. Things happen. We were all so exhausted throughout the entire shoot. We realized we're no longer making television. We're making epic film after epic film, you know."

For the earliest pair of seasons, Fear frustrated some viewers who were feeling smarter than the show's characters. The characters required an adjustment period for this new, lawless, dangerous world, but it wasn't quite landing. That's officially a thing of the past.

Fear The Walking Dead season 4 is definitely happening, folks! The companion series to AMC's The Walking Dead was confirmed even before the third season of the show premiered earlier this year.

The season 4 renewal news comes with the intriguing caveat of a shakeup in the showrunner slot. In late March, it was revealed that the spinoff series’ current showrunner Dave Erickson will step down upon the conclusion of season 3’s airings. Having signed a multi-year deal with AMC, Erickson will subsequently remain under the network umbrella for other projects.

Now, this is where things get interesting. The renewal arrives with the news that AMC has brought Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg, formerly of ABC’s Once Upon A Time, onboard as co-showrunners starting with season 4. Yet, the incoming co-captains will be joined by an interesting overseer in Walking Dead showrunner Scott M. Gimple, who additionally boards Fear The Walking as an executive producer.

Chambliss and Goldberg should bring an interesting perspective to Fear The Walking Dead. However, the fact that Gimple will also be working on the companion series seems indicative that we'll definitelly get that FTWD/TWD crossover next year.
Fear The Walking Dead season 4: crossover character revealed

It's been confirmed that Lennie James' Morgan Jones will be moving from AMC's The Walking Dead to the now-arguably-better spin-off show Fear The Walking Dead...

Looking back at above posts I hope the change of showrunner from Dave Erickson doesn't harm FTWD. Victor Strand actor was crediting him in the show's success. I guess writer continuity is most important.

Also if FTWD has a time jump I wonder what the reason for that would be? Really two years of calm?

I think in the main Walking Dead a lot of time was taken up at Herschel's farm.

Ha. Well there is over 6 months at Herschel's farm but even longer a gap with farming at the prison..

Okay. I believe you now. Two years can be explained in Fear context. If they do, it is going to be interesting because it should also advance some of Fear character skills, but I doubt it will solve Strand's cowardice. I wonder what Morgan will say to him?

Lennie James isn't the only part of The Walking Dead crossing over into Fear the Walking Dead for its fourth season.

Episode 4x02 of Fear the Walking Dead, titled, "Another Day in the Diamond," is directed by The Walking Dead's Michael Satrazemis. Satrazemis has directed a high number of episodes of The Walking Dead, including Sunday's Episode 8x11, the Mid-Season Eight finale, and the upcoming Episode 8x15. In total, the director has helmed a dozen episodes of The Walking Dead which have already aired, with more to come.

With James bringing his Morgan Jones character to Fear the Walking Dead, The Walking Dead's former showrunner Scott Gimple will be overseeing the universe as a whole as the Chief Content Officer but also serves executive producer beginning for Season Four. The Walking Dead's Robert Kirkman, Greg Nicotero, Gale Anne Hurd, and David Alpert also serve as executive producers.

Fear the Walking Dead also earned itself a new logo, with the word "Fear" being redesigned and placed above a standard The Walking Dead logo. Signs point to the show heavily adopting a narrative influenced by the flagship show, especially as Morgan Jones has dominated the promotional materials. The rest of the cast, however, will be back as Alycia Debnam-Carey, Frank Dillane, Danay Garcia, Kim Dickens, and Colman Domingo have all be confirmed to return. Newcomers to the show and universe as a whole include Garret Dillahunt, Jenna Elfman, and Maggie Grace.

The synopsis for Satrazemis' Fear the Walking Dead episode reads, "A troubled survivor finds allies in an unexpected place. Meanwhile, the life Madison has fought to build comes under threat."

The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 pm ET on AMC. Fear the Walking Dead will debut its fourth season after The Walking Dead concludes its eighth, at 10 pm ET on April 15

I would prefer if the narrative of the Fear series is not influenced by the WD show. At least not much. It stands so well on its own now.
