Quite a striking picture. Like something out of a fairy tale book. This is going to require the use of my gasoline powered thinking cap. It's a 1970's pull-start model.

This sounds like the pre oil crisis model and will run at one idea to the gallon - can you afford to run this thinking cap?

What a lovely picture. Please pass on awe and admiration to your talented sis-in-law, Ratsy.

I have something written, very, very Irish I'm afraid which might alienate the rest of the group :cautious: but that's what the image said to me. Loving the fact that the challenge isn't open for ten days because it's stopping me from playing my usual trick of submitting excitedly before I've so much as proof read the darned thing.

Speaking as someone who will -- at least in theory -- have a story vying with yours for votes, I say go ahead: alienate as many vot people as you like. :)

Keep the "feck"s to a minimum and we should be OK... :p

That's one of the reasons we have the ten-day rule -- it forces the early birds to slow down a little and polish the story until it shines. Of course, those who only get an idea after the ten days can still post in haste and repent at leisure, but we've done what we can!

How can you even think, dear TJ, that the gentle Irish people ever taint their sweet lips with such profanities? A nation of saints and poets, remember? Now where the feck are my rosary beads....?

And cuddly bear: if you're heading in the same direction, I might as well just bow out gracefully now and ceremonially burn my poor effort ;)

I didn't mean vying in that way, just that I'll have a story in the challenge (probably late on the last day).

(As if I'd ever alienate anyone.)

It can be viewed as a thumbnail but when I click on the picture to enlarge it brings me to the sign on page. (I kindly logged out and in to check ;))

edit@kerrybuchanan this may be my fault, I once had an entry called The End of the World is not my Fecking Fault (Michael O'Leary, Ireland). I think three people understood the joke. :D

edit again - I'm going to need 10 days to remove the remaining 75 words extra. And then take 3 more off to be sure, it'd be embarasssing to have two disallowed in one month....

Brian's just made an adjustment in the staff quarters' cubby-hole, aka the engine room, and I saw the complete picture, ie not just the thumbnail, when using a non-logged-in computer. Anyone else still having problems viewing it as a guest?

Are you trying to fit those disallowed 75 (err...76) words into your 300 now? :D

Hush now. It still hurts, precious. All that researching, looking at horrid little spiders with their creepy legs for half a morning, all for nothing. *sobs quietly* :D But I think have culled the words. It'll need a few more passes, though.

Yep, looks good now. :)

I've got two entries for this already. Absolutely great pic, and oddly enough in my mind, appropriately Halloweenish. Or maybe its just the incessant rain the past few days.

Edited to add: springs, I'm sure I can see a spider by the girl's foot. See? Right there. No, there. :D

Heh heh. My thinking cap is just as powerful as a lawnmower (and just as noisey). One gallon of unleaded gasoline is ample.

*hops onto your lap*

"Uncle Bowler1. Will there be ray guns, and explosions in your spooky tale? Will someone get a boo boo?"

Now that is just disturbing, SB...

And worrying, but I'll put up with a lot when someone wants to talk RAY GUNS with me (although, I've reached new and unexpected limits). Sadly SB there won't be a RAY GUN in sight, it isn't even SicFi, but the dark side for me. I've written fantasy. It is very spooky, and while no one has a boo boo in my story, trouble is certainly brewing. Now, I really wish you won't wiggle about so much....

I think I have something on the third try. Although given my luck with comps this month, I might get it looked over by a mod first.

But a bit of editing to do.

You know, I like the 75er but really enjoy the 300. The length seems to spark good creativity in me and usually throws up ideas in a way the 75er rarely does. :)

@Phyrebrat commiserations on your condition. :D

I think I'm sitting on your keys. *leaves, then walks into a forest to ponder the new challenge*

Victoria - You're right, this is going to be tough. I'm trying to stay away from what I think others are thinking. And no, I can't read minds, but I keep thinking about familiar senarios from stories I've read long ago. Hmm...........
