DISCUSSION -- December 2014 75 Word Writing Challenge

thankyou starbeast and cats cradle for the mentions!
just noticed them.
my stupid browser is doing that same trick of dumping me off every two minutes.
then insisting i don't have internet. then refusing to let me log in to post because it insists i am already here.

i think my tablets processor system has been rewritten by the civil service.
but anyways .. yay! mentions!

(sancho sorry i never thanked you for your wonderful comment last month, and vote.. very bad tablet, but it was lovely of you to say.. i love your stories and you are a much better writer then i am.. i am just as my dad would put it, stubborn as two mules when i want to do something my way.. :D)

I don't know Noir, have hardly ever read anything that counts as Noir. So as best as I could I picked.

Short list:

Teresa Edgerton... "A One Way Ticket to Paradise"
Bowler 1 ... "Santa Claus Is Coming to town"
Victoria Silverwolf ... "The Gift"
The Dusty Zebra ... "As Good as Gold"

But the winner was clear to me from the first time I read it.

The Judge ... "Sleigh Belle"

Thank you very much telford, springs, Anne Martin, Abernovo, and Juliana for the votes! And thank you everyone who listed or mentioned my story.

Now that I've recovered from all the preparations leading up to Christmas, I plan to enjoy myself tomorrow by reading everyone's stories and making up my own lists. (I did read some of them as they were posted, but fell behind during the last few days before the poll went up.)

And my deepest apologies, WinterLight, for not noticing when your name disappeared from the poll. I grew a little flustered when the new software started acting up.

You are very welcome and very modest.
Loved your story. Keep them coming...Oh and I can relate to the mule thing ;-)

Oh-o I feel like the ghost of Christmas present! Judge and Teresa no worries guys maybe the system has been on the eggnog! ;) has certainly made this one memorable

Thanks so much for mentions Tywin, A Fare Wells, Victoria and Juliana. And Starbeast how well you spread Christmas cheer, a heartfelt thanks to you!
Phyrebrat, wow your vote is treasured, thanks

I have a shortlist with Juliana, Alex the G + T, The Judge, Tywin and Karn Maeshalanadae for their skilful and creative take on the genre.
Also Talysia for your clever twist on the crimbo classic.
I had Bowler1 on there too for the entertaining reality check for the fat man!
And mentions to Perpetual Man and Boneman for your awfully clever puns.

My vote had to go to Mr Orange for what was just incredible, outrageous and awesome all in one go!

Happy Xmas to everyone!

You're welcome Ashleyne. And thank you for the Short Listing, you made my day.

Wow, thank you, Ashleyne! :) I'm busy with holiday visitors and such, but I had just a moment to come on, and express my gratitude! Thanks again!!!! CC

That was difficult. My first time through, I marked down more than a third of the stories, so I had to eliminate several that I really liked just to get it down to twelve for a long list. After that it got even harder. So here is how it went from there: long list, short list, shortest list

Remedy
springs
Talysia
TheDustyZebra
johnnyjet
Big J
D G Jones
Robert Mackay
Juliana
The Judge
telford
Karn Maeshalanadae

finally it was between The Judge and Juliana, and it was Juliana** by the thinnest of margins.

Brilliant month and so many stories I loved. I really wish I had multiple votes. For me, the best stories were the ones that got the noir voice working perfectly -- and I was very jealous!

I especially enjoyed the stories by:

Robert Mackay

Juliana

Teresa

Cat's Cradle

reiver33

Victoria

TJ

mosaix

Karn

johnnyjet

alchemist

BigJ

It was really difficult to choose. It came down to Victoria, mosaix and alchemist (with Missy La Renne right there as well), but in the end I went for the story that made me gasp out loud when I first read it -- Victoria's The Gift.
