DISCUSSION -- December 2014 75 Word Writing Challenge

Hmm. I think I have made reference to the referent in question, but I can't remember how well (or not) it went over.

Inspiration hit me today. I went with plan "B". I just finished writing it, then posted.

Now to check out the other tales.

What about the nerves it takes to post early and then have to wait twenty-some days for feedback?

I'll comment, Alex! I love your use of noir-ish language, it seemed very authentic. And I LOLd, particularly over the last few lines. I think Mr. J.S. would be very pleased! CC

I'm in, too. Very nice, Kerry! Good to see a poem for the holiday challenge. Awesome stuff so far, y'all! Looking forward to reading the rest of the entries. This will take us right up to the holiday season, so Chrons for Christmas this year (and I suspect many more to follow). Good luck with your stories, those-to-follow, CC

ps--Oh! I see by Remedy's post that yours is a song parody, Kerry. I just found the song on Youtube...great song, and terrific parody, well done!

Hoping the Pogues have made it across the Atlantic (and Irish Sea for that matter) otherwise no one will have a clue what I'm wittering on about. As usual.

Quite a set of teeth on their lead singer ;) Great song and great parody Kerry.

Cat's Cradle... I thought you captured Noir very well indeed in your story.

Ugh. First time I've been able to get a look at things this month, and...

It would indeed be a challenge. I have no experience with either Hardboiled or Noir whatsoever. Not my time period, I suppose. (To be honest, I always found that particular time period-around Prohibition/Depression and coming out to be extremely boring.)

I haven't read anything noir in the last couple of decades, either.

But there's this Firesign Theater spoof of a Noir radio show, see? An absurd way to pick up a taste of the flavor, cadence and some idioms of the genre.

However, be warned; it may become difficult to write anything serious if you listen to this.

(I so wanted to use the line: "... more holes in it than the Albert Hall.)
