DISCUSSION -- January 2015 75 Word Writing Challenge

Congratulations Springs! I feel very clever as all the runners were in my shortlists :)

And two votes for me! woo hoo! Thank you so much holland and Your Honour; I'm so happy my story stuck with you both as I was fearing it was a bit too obscure (I even had a Beachy Head reference in the first draft!) but I'll happily take two votes and mentions from Remedy, Johnnyjet and TDZ, so many thanks to you all :)

Oh, which reminds me; @TheDustyZebra, you accidentally put your asterisks next to @alchemist name instead of phyrebrat. :p

Now the voting is over, we can discuss our stories.

I'm hoping just about everyone realised the setting and thrust of my entry, but I'm interested in whether people thought/assumed the mirror** was in love with (the unnamed) Snow White or with the Queen.

** - Let's not reflect on the exact nature of the mirror, but "it" was quite complicated (at least inside my head).

Ursa, I understood that the mirror was in love with the Queen, but that it was conflicted as in not wishing to cause harm to Snow???

As for mine, it started out as a dialogue, but then I thought it would be more fun to have only his POV and not hers. The best bit was the title; I always have trouble with titles but this time I immediately though 'Bonnie and Clyde' so 'Saturday Afternoon at Bonnie's' it was. :D

Good. That's what I intended.

When looking through all the stories yesterday evening as a prelude to voting, I looked at mine again and wondered if it was as clear to someone who didn't have access to the inside of my head as I'd hoped when posting it.

The 75 word challenge is the undoubtedly the most difficult one to get across your idea due to the brevity. You can have a clear thought process in your own head, like Ursa says, but then trying to convey that in 75 words is tough. The finished story may seem to the writer to clearly express whatever meaning you intended, but that can be owed to the fact it is your story, and may not be as obvious to readers.

I guess that's part of the fun of it, everyone can have a slightly different take on each of these little gems everyone submitted.

Okay Springs, how about 'Stories typed with your feet' in the style of Sock Opera

Springs... Congrats, fine story. I just tripped over to tickety boo and ordered a book by a certain Jo.

@Bowler1 ... Remember my son, "Thou shalt not commit murder."

Congratulations Springs.
I think you can like it as many times as you like, or just as long as you like perhaps?
P.S. I've only not commited murder twice so far. So do I get more goes? :)

Sorry I did not vote people. I was so busy during the voting time period. However, there were some fantastic stories this month well done everyone. Thanks @Starbeast for my vote. This month I really liked this topic it pushed me to think a little more out the box than normally. It was still a slightly dark story but I felt I wanted to try and write something that seemed to give people a view of how important I think love is to the human condition.
Thank you @Victoria Silverwolf for the great topic. Can not wait til next month now.

I started this post, got distracted and didn't realise I didn't actually post it!

Congrats to springs! Well deserved win!

Many thanks to everyone who listed or mentioned my story (I think I liked all of your posts!) and special thanks to Phyrebat and Hex for the votes!!

You're immensely welcome Azzagorn. Your story stood out for me, and you conveyed your meaning very well.
