The House of the Undying. (Multiple spoilers beyond A Clash of Kings.)

Well yeah, technically he is a king being Rheagar' s only surviving son and heir, and the blue eyes symbolic of his Ice heritage through his Mum.

No I'm still talking about Cold Hands being the Night's King and fitting Dany's vision. The only thing he is missing is the burning sword.

Brilliant summary Boaz.
Here is a couple of suggestions from another site. The silver one agreeing with Arsten above.

. . mother of dragons, slayer of lies . . .

This seems to be the clincher regarding the "cloth dragon", the mummer's dragon: all of these are called lies by the Undying. Stannis with "Lightbringer" is a false Azor Ahai. The stone beast breathing shadow fire is a false dragon. And the mummer's dragon... is a false Targaryen.

Her silver was trotting through the grass, to a darkling stream beneath a sea of stars.

This is almost certainly depicting Daenerys's wedding night under the stars with Drogo. Many major developments in her life followed from this time.

i think you way off about Jon and the red sword and blue eyes thing. That's Stannis for me.

I just had a thought. Just this minute:

You know Melisandre' s obsession with burning someone of royal blood and the event giving power or something like that....?
What if in her confusion she's gotten mixed up regarding Danearys going into the Fire at Drogo's funeral and emerging unscathed?

...huh...

That had never occurred to me. It is very possible Mel is wrong (she often is) and she thinks she needs to sacrifice someone, but in reality, the sacrifice was already made.

on the other hand, she could be almost right. It might have been the death of Drogo, more than anything else, that hatched the dragons, and Dany walking into the fire was more of a way to bind herself to them. If this is true, maybe Mel thinks she can do it again.

I always seemed to have been left with the impression that, no matter Mel's faith, that she has got something fundamentally wrong. Perhaps she neither knows or understands what happened with Dany in the first place. And as @Srylanna pointed out to me, GRRM did remark that Dany's change was a one time magical event not linked to her being a Targ...

But what if that is in reference to her walking into the fire and not getting burned? What if the Dragons actually hatching was because of Drogo, being a king and a powerful man, dying and being consumed by fire.

Either way, I think you are right and Mel is fundamentally wrong on a bunch of levels.

This is entirely possible.

That's exactly what I'm thinking.

I'm tempted to do a re-read of ASoIaF - if I do, I'll pay closer attention to that plot element. Not that I'm very good with nuances. :)

I'm not going to do another reread until the publishing date for the final part is announced.

That is my plan as well. I've read them cover to cover 3 times in the last 3 years and I want to give them one more go while gearing up for the next book.

I'm going to have to read the next book 4 times just to even it out with the rest of the series though.

Only three options for Mel. Either she's lying and knows it (this is what I think), or she's wrong but does not know it (she's delusional and probably being manipulated), or she's right. The final option may be the scariest.
