Discussion - March 2015 100-Word Anon Writing Challenge (#5)

You're doing an amazing job of running this competition, CC! Just a thought, though: What if someone writes a story and they're not sure whether it's family friendly enough?

What if someone writes a story and they're not sure whether it's family friendly enough?

That's a great question, Ashleyne..and to be honest, I had never considered this before! I think we're good so far, does everyone agree? (If anyone has any concerns over any of the published stories, please contact me!) I think if I were to receive a story that was disturbing to me in an un-family-friendly way that I would consult a mod before posting...get their opinion...and then if they agreed that it was too unsettling to post, I'd PM the author back and discuss the situation with them. Does that sound reasonable, gang? Thank you for bringing this up, Ashleyne!

And thank you, Ashleyne, for the kind words!! It's been a lot of fun so far, my stewardship of this month's evernt!

Hah, farntfar!! :)

Another story just added, and another nice take on the challenge. Good stuff everyone, please keep 'em coming!

"Go Alone" -- The author movingly portrays the feeling of loss and bereavement.

"Heat" -- This clever tale vividly captures an unexpected point of view.

"The Unwelcome Visitor" -- With chilling understatement, this story reminds us that the worse monsters are all too human.

"My Own Designated Exit" -- A sense of strangeness fills this account of a creator undone by the creation.

"Comfort" -- Innocence and guilt mingle in the rich characterization in this story.

"Fitting In" -- This touching story allows us to empathize with an unusual narrator.

The creepfest continues! Story 13 is now available, and it's a good one. Thank you, for-now nameless author!

Story 14 is officially here! As I said to the author, wicked, and wonderful!

Some of you might claim that trying to follow one of my pieces is a sufficiently blood-curdling experience in its own write, but I don't generally do deliberate horror. Still, there will be something of mine in the final roundup, promise. I've missed but one challenge since they started (and been disqualified from one other)

Well after the alleged threat of violence to my austere person from unnamed parties, I'm watching the thread at least. Have I entered or will I be entering, that remains to be seen.

I am watching the thread though ;)

Hah..well, yes! I was indeed one of the threateners...and I must apologize to kerry and Juliana for my sad attempt at deferring blame by naming them as suspects. But it's awesome that you're watching the thread, Perp! :) ('Threat' and 'thread' are 5/6s the same word, you know!)

And another story makes the scene! I would proclaim it a very nice and effective tale, even if its main character wasn't of the species of creatures that are a particular phobia of mine. Well done! More stories, please!! CC

I tend to stay off the Anonymous threads 'cos I'm never quite sure if the point at which you join the discussion gives any indication of when you posted - but this time I decided to throw caution to the wind and join in anyway, as I've already submitted my story - oh wait, no I didn't...I don't think. Oh, I get so forgetful these days

Family and horror - two areas I tend not to dabble in. What with this and the 75-worder, it's a tough old month!
