To Kindle or not to Kindle...

UK & Ireland prices for Kindle Touch (a Fire isn't an eReader and isn't any longer marketed as a Kindle) :

£50 instead of £60 without Sleep screen adverts, for Prime Members (It's about €80 here in Tesco)
£40 with Sleep screen Adverts.

Deal ONLY applies to Prime members. Bad way to save money on a Kindle unless you are already Prime member.

The waterproof 6.8" Kobo Aura H2O is currently about €180 in Argos.

We have 2 x Paperwhite here (1st and 2nd version). They are not worth the extra money compared to current Touch (my daughter's Touch is in the photos).

If you want to watch videos, browse Web, run apps and read books, get a separate cheap Tablet and Kindle Touch. They are complementary.

They are still doing free sign up to Amazon Prime so this is likely going to get a lot more people to sign up; otherwise they have to wait till Christmas and the mass of "oh I forgot to get things and now I've only a few days and need next day delivery - free Prime time!

Tablets I've honestly not worked out what they are for yet. I can see them being entertaining if commuting long distance a fair bit; but beyond that and watching a film in bed because you're too lazy to get up I really can't see a slot for them myself. Anything I'd want to do I can do 1000% better on a laptop or even a hybrid laptop these days.

If you are mostly at a desk and have a good laptop and mostly CREATE content rather than browse in short bursts, then you'll not see any point to a laptop.
If you don't have a laptop, or mostly just look at stuff or don't have a dedicated desk, or are on the go a lot, then maybe a tablet is of value.
I prefer to watch DVDs and TV, don't have the Cap for Internet video, and anyway can drive any of the four TVs from laptop for Internet video. I even have a Media PC that feeds main HDTV from a different room.

Yet I have a Tablet. I use it to test Android Apps I write. I never use it for anything else now novelty wore off. I never connect my Smart Phone to Internet either. I use its FM Radio, Camera, Media Player and a free Android jotter app.

You mean deals you want.
Amazon is chock-a-block with deals today. Most are for Prime only. Though there is a Quad Core 7" tablet reduced from £100 to £30, doesn't include Keyboard cover. There are ones including a keyboard not much more, or about £6 to buy a keyboard cover. (compared to €30 in Tesco).

For me what is annoying is that though Amazon is based for EU in Luxembourg, Irish residents can only buy on UK site (apart from a few items such as Kindle DXG on Amazon.com). You don't know the postage till you "buy it". Especially if it's "Free in delivery UK", also randomly items are not shipped to Ireland at all, again you only can find out by trying to buy. You also don't clearly see sometimes if it's an eBay type sale or actually Amazon till you purchase. I have a of course a solution for UK only shipping (as I have for eBay too, I have 4 eBay addresses!).

They are very annoying.
