DISCUSSION -- June 2015 75-word Writing Challenge

That is a very good question, and one that I would find hard to answer concisely. So let us say I felt I had outgrown it. :)

I might give it, it's own little thread at some point :D
And here i thought the disney marvel meglomaplex had again "found" their new so original motion picture super hero, The perpetual man, forcing you to change your name upon threat of legal action..

or that you finished your book..

(note to self: upon finishing book, change name to site name..much easier process)

Good thing my avatar is a jet so I can fly out of here quickly when things get out of hand. (Don't worry, I'll be back. This is too much fun.)

JJ, just read your entry. Began to chuckle then laughed out loud at the end. Nicely done sir.

Mr. Orange – a science fiction horror story that ticks all the boxes offering a creepy atmosphere and an enticing cliff-hanger ending.

Ihe – A hard truth is taught, that no matter what plans and promises are made, chaos, war can turn them all on their head and bring ashes to dreams.

StilLearning – the craziest of things can happen for the strangest of reasons, who knew that suggesting changes to rules in a harmless competition could lead to persecution?

Mr Orange -- A subtle account of terrible events related through small hints.

Ihe -- A tragic tale of courage wasted and hope destroyed.

StilLearning -- A biting satire of our obsession with popular culture.

Well, I posted my entry. That I came up with on a caffeine high in all of five minutes. xD

It's a little childish and not typical of your average entry. But I thought it worked and decent for what it is. ^^

Xenosia - hyperactive imagination blast, that fairly buzzes along with a life and vibrancy all of its own.

Strange. Just looking at the thanks from Mr. Orange and Xenosia, it's really odd seeing the thanks going to Tim, or in the first instance a rather clever amalgamation of everything!

Decided to time travel and look back on past events... I saw things. I saw picture like things. :cautious:

Speaking of things peeps fear; I have no problems with Karn. He's a sweetheart if nothing else. :X3:

Paul_S --- Nice story, I liked it a lot.

Jastius --- Heartbreaking! I'm a sucker for selfless sacrifice.

thank you parson. the quality of people here inspired me. i think if many of the people here had that decision, that would be what they would do. i have never seen any forum before full of such heroic hearts. this place is like the one place in my world i have ever thought i could trust and be sure of welcome and belonging, and to me you guys are all heroes, just for being who you are. how can that be anything but a constant inspiration?

From what all I've seen, there are many great people on here. That's something you don't see often on many sites. Inspiring it is indeed. Having a place of belonging, a second home basically is something special. It's great you, and others found Chrons. It only helps it grow, and makes being on better with more interesting peeps.

read your coffee story xenosia. not many people would be sure enough of themselves to post something off the top of their heads into a writing forum. yay you. if i had your nerve i would have been prime minister by now.

I'm no writer, first and foremost. It's of my opinion that not trying something out does one no good. You'll never realize your potential second guessing everything you do. So, I just went for it and posted my "off the top of my head" entry. Hopefully those of the Chrons community that read it will be pleased, if not entertained by it if nothing else. ^^

Thanks for the feedback Parson.

@Xenosia and jastius, even though I'm new here I've already gotten that impression. Amazingly supportive group!

I just wish I was past that awkward period where a lot of the comments make me feel like I've jumped into a conversation right in the middle. =)

I am a bit curious to know if certain flavors or styles of writing tend to win these challenges. Based on the ones I have read, the winning entries seem to be quite varied, but I'd be interested to know what the peanut gallery thinks.

Xenosia -- A dazzling display of verbal fireworks.

Phyrebrat -- A powerful image of a strange and terrifying miracle.

Paul_S: All kinds of entries have won. Stories and poems, funny or serious. Some factors which are important in determining which one to vote for:

1. Technical quality: Avoid typographical errors, poor use of grammar and punctuation (unless it is deliberate and an important part of the entry, of course), and so on.

2. Appropriateness: The entry should fit both the theme and the genre.

3. Writing skill: The entry should be vivid, emotionally powerful, clear without being overly obvious, and a pleasure to read.

4. Originality: The writer should exercise imagination and come up with something new.
