Discussion - June 2015 100 Word Anonymous Challenge #7

Hugo’s Hammer – It starts small then grows in magnitude and could be the beginning of a legend of destructive force

As you well know, Kerry, it's not like people can apply to be the red herring. That just wouldn't be on.

Bribery, however, is wholly and actively encouraged.

Very funny DG. :D

I read through the entries yesterday (really must get mine done ), one thing I love about all the challenges is all the different aspects that people can come up with for the same theme. This is all the more surprising given the limitations of a restricted word count.

Can I play the part of complete newbie for a second and ask is sending a PM the same as starting a conversation? Just sending a message like that to DG.

Apologies for my ignorance, this will be my first time entering the anonymous challenges.

Cheers - Vaz :)

That's right, Vaz. Open a conversation to the person running the challenge this month, to send your entry. (DG Jones this month)
That way they all get posted under one name so we don't know the original writer.
People still say PM (Personal message), because that's what it was called under the previous software.

And welcome to the Chrons. We haven't spoken before. I hope you're having fun.
PS You don't need to apologise. We all have to learn. (Read The Left Hand of Darkness. Ignorance is a virtue.)

Thanks for your kind reply Farn. :)

and yes I am enjoying myself immensely, what a wonderful and resourceful site this is for the aspiring writer!

I look forward to entering the challenge and shall PM DG with my entry soon...

Thanks folks - Vaz :D

Hmm. Theoretically, as a newcomer you might not realise how many clues you are handing out free of charge. However, there is always the possibility this is a bluff, that yours is the very first story on the list and you just want us to think you're learning…

No worries, Vaz! I suspect Chris is just having a bit of fun with you. The anonymous challenge is a sort of informal, just-for-fun challenge, and we're not that hung up on the rules. The guessing part of the event is especially just for fun, because it's remarkably difficult to recognize the styles of so many authors just from 100 words. So no worries! (Also, you could wait a day or so to send DG your story...or DG might wait a day or so before posting it to help erase any potential tracks you've left in the muddy uncertainties of our challenge.)

I think the closing date for new stories to be sent to DG is the 21st, is that right? Plenty of time still. Best of luck with your entry, and have fun in the challenge! :) CC
