DISCUSSION -- August 2015 75-word Writing Challenge

I've written two stories. Neither measures up to the standard of competition so far, or to the competition I expect. Back to the drawing board.

As we enter this chamber note how we rush forward through the millenia, until we reach the decline of the Age of Empire. In this corner we can listen to a recording that Glen has provided. Listen to the voices of those whose day of dominance is about to end, but who remain stalwart.

Look there! Do you see that relic from an earlier time? The one who held it spoke the same language, or nearly so, as those we just heard, but lived long before his nation dreamed of empire. Through Jo Zebedee, we share his thoughts as his ambitions are crushed by events beyond his control.

Watch your step as we climb these few stairs. In this alcove we approach nearer our own time, to one of the darkest periods in modern history. In the intimate account provided by alchemist, we see the effect on vividly delineated individuals of two ruthless dictators bent on destroying each other's nation.

Looking across the aisle, we turn from the results of an invasion to the anticipation of one. Moving back in time a century or so, and soaring across the ocean to another continent, Cat's Cradle offers us a work of art which reveals more than its creator intended.

We come very close to our own time in this next exhibit. Words are hardly adequate to convey the sense of tragedy which fills this moving entry from Cascade. Perhaps only a moment of silence is appropriate.

I'm in... very tenuos link to theme / genre and not a result that I'm truly happy with but at least it's done.

Shush! Let's not bring up that dark episode in forum history. The scabs are still too fresh; the wounds run deep. Some might talk about the 2015 failed coup in a few decades, but it's too soon for us--too many (comments) slain. Let it sit until we are all Revolution Veterans, when we can be properly honoured for surviving and rightly admired by our grandchildren, when we finally tell our story of epic bravery and heinous carnage...

As a change of pace, this rather tongue-in-cheek display from Luiglin takes us to a time long before humans beings were around, and has some fun showing us what might have happened.

Look up to that very high shelf. There you will find a subtle and mysterious manuscript from holland. What it describes may have happened in ancient times, or perhaps nearer to our own time. I suppose it is possible it has not happened yet. In any case, it reveals an eternal truth about the nature of history.

Thanks for the review, Victoria. I'm enjoying this months review style.

Thanks Victoria, I guess I was too vague this time :D Btw, love the new form of reviews :)

Over here we are taken back to a very specific day and place, through the reporting of Vaz. It seems that one can almost feel the warmth of dawn, smell the grass and water, just before the disaster strikes.
