Discussion- August 100 Word Anonymous Challenge

The stories keep coming in.

It is a fairly short challenge this month so don't miss out, and don't forget to put your guessing hats on (if you are that way inclined). I don't want to blow my own trumpet but with one or two exceptions I am pretty confident I know the writers for all of the stories.

Does the winner of the guessing game get a reward? Guessing for fun is not that much fun. Throw us a bone here. "Entry winner gets theme choice, guess-winner gets genre choice" or something like that. Give us something!. (At least a pretty picture of a nice potato or sumtin')

OK.

Person with the most correct guesses, will get a hand drawn (by me) picture of a potato. In case that is insufficient incentive, they will get to choose the variety of the potato drawn.

EDIT: just to be clear though, it needs to be a potato, I don't draw Yams, sweet potatos or Taro for anyone.

I believe there is only one true statement in Ihe's previous posting. And that statement is

Sorry, last posting mysteriously cut off. As I was saying, I believe Ihe's only true statement was . . . the one about Trump, of course! :)

The unwitting cliffhanger was cool though. And yes, there's God, and then there's Trump. Imagine the gold mine for comedians this guy is. I want 4 years of that on TV.

Or was it an unwitting cliffhanger??? Yeah, that would be pretty awesome! I almost kind of want to see that.

So Cascade, you're betting all your chips on this statement.

"Ian the iPhone" -- A whimsical and touching portrait of the way in which objects can seem alive through the eyes of a child.

"Monster Girls" -- A nostalgic look back at "horror hosts" of yesteryear and the effect they had on the imagination.

"Fudge?" -- A jolly romp through a new kind of fairy tale with appeal for those with a sweet tooth.

"Arborea" -- A richly imagined myth with a pleasant shiver of anticipation in its open ending.

"Someone to Look Up To" -- A unique technological fantasy which sends the spirits soaring.

"The Easiest of Solutions" -- An animal fable with full characterization of its realistically depicted beasts.

"Of Annoying Inanimate Objects and Other Plights of the Common Adventurer" -- A playfully satiric look at classic tales of adventure.

"Pals" -- A dark tale of wicked deeds and the dangerous power of friendship.

"Horns Can Be Fun" -- An imaginative fantasy with a clever twist in its tail.

"Tooth or Dare?" -- A vivid and suspenseful adventure which relies on the reader's imagination.

"Knot Gnome at this Address" -- A carefully crafted, subtle poem with a rollicking rhythm to carry it along.

I was just thinking "What this challenge needs is some reviews from Victoria".

Thanks for the lovely comments about what may or may not be a story written by me.

We now have a dozen stories, with about ten days left to write. I think we can double our numbers, who's with me?

Yes I'm more than hopeful that the numbers shall grow :)

I myself may enter soon. Wrote something late last night that fits the theme and genre so watch this space!

Children's fantasy. Something I've never touched before but will be thinking of something to give this a go with, could be fun. Might end up with the next Neverending Story. Though my title won't be false advertising, probably.

I really dig our status as the little challenge that could. We have twelve stories so far, and I really enjoy each one. Terrific stuff so far. It'd be lovely to get to 20 stories, and I hope we'll reach even higher this month. It's such a fun challenge! Looking forward to the next story submissions!! CC

Maybe a dumb, already-answered question, but here it is: why hasn't the 100w-anon been moved to "Writing Challenges"? Am I missing something?

I think there is some doubt among the Mods that it is a valid challenge. They worry that it will detract from the 'official' challenges, resulting in reduced entries for those - that's why we don't have them in the same month as the 300 word challenge. Hopefully one day it will prove itself and find it's rightful place, up there amongst the clouds, shining down on lesser challenges-- *cough* I mean, hopefully it will get recognised one day. :giggle:

More stories to read and enjoy. Two great new stories up. Which of our new stories is your favourite? It really is a dilemma...

...see what I did there?
