Hodderscape Open Submission Window

Hi
I have just joined this community partly because I found you when trying to find out if anyone had heard from Hodderscape. There is a new update on their site - I can't post the link as a link because I don't have 15 posts under my belt apparently, but it's in usual place on their site.
I submitted on 4th August and got my logged confirmation e-mail the same day.
Good luck to everyone waiting!

but it's in usual place on their site.

It’s nearly the end of October! But we’re not quite done reading yet… we received nearly 1,500 submissions, most of which are about 15,000 words long. That means we’ll have read nearly twenty-two million words by the time we’re finished going through all the submissions. As a comparison: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is 198,227 words long. So we’re reading the equivalent of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 113 times in a row. It’s taking us a little while!
We won’t be able to reach our goal of having let everyone know the status of their submission by the end of October
Please do not email us asking about the status of your submission or when you’ll hear from us.

This contained another little snippet of information...

We’ve read more than three quarters of the submissions now, and have gotten in touch with many of you already, but unfortunately we have not yet managed to read and respond to everyone. We won’t be able to reach our goal of having let everyone know the status of their submission by the end of October, but never fear! We’re working night and day to ensure that we read and consider everything carefully and are making every effort to let you know as quickly as possible.

OK so they've read more than three-quarters of 1455 submissions - i.e. they've read more than 1,091 submissions over the past ten weeks. If they continue to read 'new' submissions at their current pace, they should read the remaining 364 submissions over the next four weeks.

Of course there are a lot of assumptions in the last paragraph, but I would guess that they ought to finish reading their first round by the end of November.

Edit - Of course what intrigues me is that I have not seen anyone say they've got a request for a full manuscript.

I didn't expect then to have got through all the submissions by the end of this month. On the plus side though, if they've sent out all the rejections the odds must be shortening for those who haven't heard. That's a big if, of course!

I would be surprised if they read all the way through every submission as she implies. Surely some of the submissions will be so hopeless it won't take more than a couple of pages.

Yeah, but you have to be polite and imply you've done so that the sensitive writers don't get their wires crossed. Truth simply don't have anything to do with it.

Well, that's me out :)
... I’m sorry to say that we will not be moving forward with your novels, but thank you again for submitting them. ...
Please accept our congratulations, on behalf of the entire team here at Hodder, on your commitment and drive. It’s no easy thing to finish a novel and you have written three – you have everything in the world to be proud of.
Good luck with your writing career!
Well, I've 9 done and started #10 and #11 :)
