Hodderscape Open Submission Window

Thanks Kerry!

So .... is mine in the 500 rejections they haven't got round to sending out yet or in the 100 they are still considering.....
This appears to be a new form of psychological torture ;) Good job I decided not to let it get to me .........

I got a feeling at the end of last week that it was going to be close, and I'm really curious to see which one drops in.

Boneman, you do all that, and forget to sacrifice a goat to Apollo?

Well... I suppose you could sacrifice some broccoli to Apollo instead.

OK ... first rejection received about 20 minutes ago. Standard one, with congratulations for completing a novel etc and how thrilled they were by the imagination etc of the writers.

Second MS is still in there ...

Hello,

Thank you very much for sending us your novel during our open submissions period. I’m sorry to say that we will not be moving forward with your project, but thank you again for submitting it.

Due to the huge number of submissions we received, we regret that are unable to provide personalized feedback. But throughout the open submissions process we have been astonished, overwhelmed and wholly delighted with the imagination, talent and ability of the 1500 people who submitted manuscripts to us. Please accept our congratulations, on behalf of the entire team here at Hodder, on your commitment and drive. It’s no easy thing to finish a novel and you have everything in the world to be proud of.

Good luck with your writing career!

All the best,

Anne Perry and the Hodderscape Team

And double snap - my second submission just had its coup de grâce

Commiserations, you lot. It hits harder when you've had to wait so long. (Or so I imagine -- I always take an early bath in these things!)

So does that count as being 'long listed' ;)
Not that I'm planning on adding it to my writer CV

Quite! Bit of a deja vu - I once won a children's novel comp and the (major mainstream) publisher was meant to look at the whole MS with a view to perhaps publishing it. After a year, they returned it saying they had found it down the back of a filing cabinet in an office move! Needless to say, no comment on the fact that it had been under consideration .....
