Discussion Thread -- April 2016 75-word Writing Challenge

Thanks everyone. :)

Commiserations to DG and TDZ who ran close seconds - sometime too close!

I think I've said this before. Some months I spend hours carefully honing a piece and it gets barely a mention. Other months, like April, I knock something off in a couple of hours and people think it has some merit. A complete mystery to me, but maybe there's a lesson in there somewhere.

Many thanks to Parson, crystal haven, TheDustyZebra, Bob Senior, Glen, Venusian Broon, Bowler1, Cat's Cradle, DG Jones, J5V, Old_Man_Steve2016 and Heijan Xavier for the votes. (y)

And thanks for the mentions / short lists to Ihe, Sinister, Shyrka, Johnnyjet, Starbeast, Grimward, Robert Mackay, pambaddley and TJ.

I have a theme / genre for May that I hope you will all enjoy. I'll be submitting it to the powers that be in the next few minutes.

Extremely well done Mosaix! - you are catching up with the top of the leaderboard, Harebrain and Culhwch. Win one more and it will be a three way tie at the top.

Many thanks for everyone that mentioned and especially voted my little bit of whimsy. So especially: Starbeast, Glen, Mr Orange, farntfar and Calliopenjo (and Ihe - that's another vote goddammit :D)

More voting soon in the the 300 worder...

Bob the accountant wonders if this 3 votes in the 75 worder is just a one-off to celebrate 7 years, or will it continue into this year?

Congratulations Mosaix! I guess the one thing about the 3 votes is that it makes the votes received look spectacular - not that it would have changed the outcome, I'm sure.

I really enjoyed the theme this month, and found it an enjoyable read as I made my way through the stories.

In some cases I just wish they were a bit longer... what's that? 300 words? :D

Thanks everyone. :)

I'll be honest I wrote mine out whilst I was on a lunch break at work. :)

I'll put in a bit more effort on the next one as some of the shorts were impressive.

You would have had an additional vote from me if I was smart enough to read the vote closing times!

Congratulations mosaix, looking forward to seeing what you've come up with for the next theme/genre.

Also, a question to anyone from a newbie: what is a stealth vote?

A huge thanks again for the 7 votes this month. I really wasn't expecting a lot from my story told of a mirror hanging on a wall.

Congrats to Mosaix! Well done. I will PM you for your address so I can send your copy of The Haunting of Lake Manor Hotel!

Just a note that I want to share. 5 of the authors in the book were in this challenge, and the two runners up with 9 votes, are in the book!

If you include the editor, Lake Manor had 36 votes out of 145 this month, or 24% of the votes! I think this means you all should buy yourselves a copy of the Lake Manor! ;)

See, folks. That's not us as writers telling you to buy the book. That's maths. And you can't argue with maths. ;)

Congrats Mosaix and thanks to everyone for great stories! Onward to next month!

Congratulations Mosaix - an excellent and worth winner!

Thanks to Shryka and LittleStar for the votes - very much obliged.
