Discussion Thread -- April 2016 75-word Writing Challenge

Thanks everyone. :)

And thanks for the mentions / short lists to Ihe, Sinister, Shyrka, Johnnyjet, Starbeast, Grimward, Robert Mackay, pambaddley and TJ.

You're very welcome Mosaix. Congrats again for your win. Stay awesome.

Many thanks for everyone that mentioned and especially voted my little bit of whimsy. So especially: Starbeast, Glen, Mr Orange, farntfar and Calliopenjo (and Ihe - that's another vote :D)

More voting soon in the the 300 worder...

You're immensely welcome Venusian Broon, I hilghly enjoyed your story. It looked cool too.

Thanks for reminding me about the 300. I've got to finish reading the entries. Fantastic tales. I always enjoy how everyone images something completely different, just by inspiration from a photo.

CONGRATULATIONS MOSAIX.

Nice story and it's nice to vote for a winner like yourself!

Congrats MOSAIX, great job.
Remember dem gumshoes?

THANK YOU Little Star, Starbeast, Dusty Zebra and Grimward for mentions/listings, much appreciated.

Parson, you are right, I just lost my head, the pressure of having to choose 3 was just too much for me, kept me awake at nite.

Chris, you are also right, a mention or listing goes a long way to boost ones ego, I admit to being a junkie when it comes to searching the discussion thread for a mention of my story or a reply to something I might have said.

Congratulations Mosaix! Well deserved for a gem of a short story.

Because even Doug Adams didn't foresee it all coming down to a horse race. ;)

Thanks Grimward. Nice to be King of the Hill once in a while. Doug Adams didn't foresee this, but Malzberg did. My 75 words has a strong nod in his direction for his books about marginal people in extraordinary circumstances, where a horse-race or a chess game can decide the fate of the universe. I think we can all agree he is the greatest sci-fi writer ever.

And while it is also nice to get votes, I wonder if I would have got any under usual rules. My vote is for one vote!

Nixie-Your story reminds me of the Queensryche song "Silent Lucidity."

A Qüeensryche fan! Oh yeah \m/

I missed this the first time through -- now I'm going to have to check out the story again and see if it does that to me, too! :D

I went to a semi-local concert on the Queensryche 25th anniversary of "Operation: Mindcrime" tour. It was awesome!

On another note, I can't find the post where someone asked if the three-vote thing was a new regular or just a special, but I wanted to clarify that for the newer folks. Occasionally, on special anniversaries, we have three votes, but then it goes back to normal again. Sorry! :)

*Grins* Well, as you can see, you had mine, special anniversary or not! And I'm not sure I've read any Malzberg yet, although several of the titles in the bibliography look familiar (and I'd swear I've stumbled across the Mike Barrie character somewhere, too!); will have to rectify/reacquaint!

Closet Queensrÿche fan here, too.(y)

Congrats Mosaix!

Congrats, mosaix!!

Many thanks for the votes, Phyrebrat, LittleStar, HazelRah, and Cathbad, and thanks also to those who listed or mentioned my story this month!

Congratulations Mosaix!

(I confess I lost track of time and forgot to vote... *blush*)
Mea culpa
Thought it was a different date to be honest. Shiftwork.
Many thanks callopenjo for the vote, and to shryka, Victoria and callopenjo for the reviews.
My non votes were for will wallace, cascade, vaz, sinester 42, farntfar, ihe, hazelrah, j5v, phyrebrat, little star, ratsy, the big peat, and stillearning
As you can see I had not yet pummelled my likes down to the requisite minuity.
A well deserved congratulations mosaic, and lovely theme you've picked for the next month!

(I should note that Malevolence was strictly from me, not part of the prize. Saving of postage and all that. :D )

Yes, a big thanks to Dusty for signing the book and sending both! Now I owe her a box of books

I hope you like Lake Manor, Mosaix (and now you get to read one of my stories in Malevolence too) 'He watched her from the corner of the room...'
