Cover for Liberator

We currently have an artist working on the cover. It is based on the original figure (which most certainly is not a stock image) but with detail rather than just outline, and more contrast on the font. It's looking very nice. When we have something solid, I will post it up here.

Thank you all for your feedback.

This is the new cover for Liberator. This isn't the final version, a few tweaks still need to be made,.

The figure looks great - I'd be impressed with that. However, you might benefit from simplifying your fonts and making the colours clearer - remember, it's potentially helpful to ensure they stand out well, even when the image is reduced to a thumbnail on Amazon: Thrillers, at Amazon UK

The text is still in progress. The title will be larger and brighter I believe. The author names probably just brighter, better contrast all round. We have been viewing it as a thumbnail, so it will Lstand out right too, hopefully. As it will be physical print as well, we also want to make sure it is stylish enough large.

We'll have to do a special retro edition for you JD;)

At full screen size, it looks pretty darn impressive. Can you post a thumbnail size image, though? That's really much more important than the full size for judging effectiveness, and I worry that the figure will disappear into a dark blob when it's viewed smaller.

Hey Q, yeah agree about the font. And that space at the side being empty feels too empty. I wonder if you should try to run the title down the side just to see what it looks like.

How are the Kindle thumbnails generated? They seem to be pin sharp. You don't upload a thumb for your Nobel, so how does it work and how much detail is lost? There are some very intricate covers that no detail seems to be lost on...

I like that one a lot better! I do like Nathan's idea of running the title vertically down the right side, though. I think that would balance it out nicely. :)

We've been playing with this, and examining the amazon store. Now this thumb is 131x185, which is the same aspect as the original picture.
We've been dragging down details for thumbnails on the amazon store and getting a range of sizes smaller than 120x185 up to larger than 330x499... So there doesn't seem to be a strict standard at all for thumbnail resolution/size. Am I reading things totally wrong here? some of these thumbs we are looking at are incredibly detailed...

At the moment we havnt got a clean image with no text on that we can do the title vertically, so that'll have to wait.

just a rough patch job, but I was seeing something like this in my head. Still think the fonts need to be solid, not that glassy look, at least on the author names.

The title may look better further right too...not sure

Thanks Ratsy, or other way up.. which looks better. Also, better author names?

sorry, that has come out rather.. massive..

That's really coming together.

Figure to the right a touch but ratsy's suggestion for the title is a good one. Just a thought, maybe have it running down vertically:

L
I
B
E
R
A
T
O
R

It may not work, but worth putting to consensus.

Figure needs to be centre justified in the space and I also reckon expanding the lensflare(? - the blue back light) a bit more to eat up some of the dead space. (Though, to be fair, you might not need to if you shift the character right a touch)

Really liking it - it's enticing, but crucially, it's different from much of what's out there at the moment.

Yes, Ralph's way is what I was thinking of. But I'd like to see all three side by side to know for sure. :D

I agree with the posters suggesting the vertical title, as exampled by Ralph. There's a lot of space that could be better used. WOrth a go in any case.

But looks very good - got a real Punisher vibe going on, which I presume is what you're going for.
