what's a sci-fi book that you always wanted to be made into a movie?

I know damnation alley the movie was bad, but I fondly remember going to the cinema to see it - the poster looked amazing, a 2000ad style vehicle, an apocalyptic wasteland , giant scorpions, and a motorbike - what more could you want :) as all those 70s scifi movies did - my favourites being land that time forgot, warlords of atlantis, at the earths core. Doug McClure for president!
But I think there is a market in making good quality movies with similar great quest / adventure themes and running them in cinemas - a good poster and a good soundtrack go a long way, and with all the cgi nowadays out of the box on PC's and with blender - hmmm its making me think - maybe this is something I gotta try - I wonder would a cinema show your movie directly, if you made one - bypass the distribution chains and just show it locally - gotta be some fun in this

That could be pretty epic actually. The series was a bit uneven at times, but had some stunning visuals that could make for some very interesting tv in the right hands.

Its by far Zelazny's best work. He was great writer I really wish he was still here .:(

I agree with you on wishing that RZ had not left us so soon. (But as for his best work: earlier in this thread I spoke up for DAMNATION ALLEY and CREATURES OF LIGHT AND DARKNESS -- and I think that if pressed to name his single best work, I'd point at the latter.)

Replay by Ken Grimwood is just begging to be made into a movie. Doomsday Book by Connie Willis. Pretty much anything with great characters and time travel. Those are moneymakers at the box office.

I'd love to see Clive Barkers Weaveworld made into a TV series.
