Discussion Thread -- November 2016 75-word writing challenge

I know I'm having the kind of month that goes, 1st 8th 17th 20th wait wasn't it the 1st on Monday? Crap it's thanksgiving this week!

I assume the lack of conversation is others having the same sort of month.

A recent game that did an interesting take on dystopias was XCOM 2.
The alien leaders and their puppet government Advent had built gene therapy clinics, under the guise of healing the sick.
Your goal, as the player, is to break the Earth free from alien control, and in doing so, find out what they're up to.
The non-playable characters have chats with you and each other describing their problems with the dystopian world. They wonder where those juicy Advent burgers are coming from, since they don't see any cows around.

Wow bowler, half way through and I thought you'd missed the point then BAM!

Scratched, @Ashleyne. B. Watts – This alarming story of a future city, trapped within a great dome, takes a dark stab at modern culture’s talent show obsession.

Swampson Containment Log: Final Entry, @Heijan Xavier – A map leads a military expedition into danger in this tail of divided loyalties and misplaced faith.

"... and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back", @johnnyjet – A vision of an oppressive future where the state sees all, told not from the victim’s perspective, but from that of its ever-vigilant enforcer.

Pleasure in Dystopia, @Old_Man_Steve2016 – Even in the bleakest of circumstances, some scant pleasure can be taken from the constant things in life. And wishing ill on those who put you there.

The Pride of the Proud, @HazelRah – A group of hunters plan an attack on their quarry but not all of them are reassured by their leader’s bravado.

CHOICES, @Droflet – With worrying parallels to current affairs, this story paints a picture of a bleak future where slavery and repression is the norm.

DISCOVERY, @Justin Swanton – Explorers following an ancient map find a button that they hope will lead them to riches and glory. Unfortunately, it seems something may have been lost in translation.

The road map to the end of humanity, @Parson – In a world where only few people can read, one such sage leads his liege and their warband on a voyage of death and destruction.

The Black Chart, @VinceK – The crew of a ship, forced to follow the path of the damned by their deranged Captain, make one last attempt to stave off oblivion.

@Venusian Broon, your story completely shocked me and @Droflet something seems very familiar about your story, it's very well written. I really need to go back and read them all again they're all so good lol.

Wow bowler, half way through and I thought you'd missed the point then BAM!

I'm glad you enjoyed it and your kind comment is very welcome. I couldn't get the idea of old maps out of my yellow head and turning that into something modern had me struggling for a while. There have been some tough 75 worders (is this a word?) recently and I've not been posting on the first page of entries like I usually do.

Christmas next and my favourite month. Can I make glue again this year? Can I kill Santa?

Well, no difficulty attaining the mystic 42 this time - and there are still:- AJB, chrispenycate, Mad Alice, Moonbat, ratsy, reiver33, Starbeast, StilLearning, The Judge, TheDustyZebra and Ursa major to come, with a day and a half to finish. (clearly, this is not intended to be an exclusive list - anybody else we're delighted to see your entry. Make my day - make it impossible to choose my vote.) Just a mo - Chrispy? (dashes off to read first post thread)

Phew. A bit short this month and near totally incomprehensible, but there is something ready…
