NYC Midnight Short Story competition 2017

And I just got the email announcing the NYC Flash Fiction contest registration is open. Off we go? :D

Thanks. I'm kind of amazed by the story, honestly. That thing poured out of my brain in like 6 hours total, start to finish.

Bah, final round results are in, and I'm not in the top 20. Such is life.

Still, a very good try, and should leave you very encouraged.

I haven't read it. I'm irrationally bitter about the whole thing because I got some very stupid nitpicky feedback from one of the judges, and if that's what sank me from the top 20, then I'm very annoyed.

As an example, this judge criticized my spelling of the word "Ok." Apparently it's "OK" or "O.K." but never "Ok."

Bite me. Bite me forever and then go jump in a lake. Of poo.

Oh god, are you serious? Yes, of course you are. I remember some of the feedback I got from that one judge. Wait, it wasn't that one, was it? What was the judge number? If they put that judge on for the finals, arrrrrgh!

But it really is a very good story that won. I wouldn't argue with losing to that (well, I guess I did, in a way, but not as immediately as you did).

And no, it's not "O.K." It's not short for two words. Idiot. Ok is ok.
