I do apologize for not being around lately. I have been waiting on the results of that contest I entered. I've been imagining the judges either throwing away my story or putting up for everybody to laugh at. Of course they wouldn't, but that's not what my muse told me.

I also had some toothwork done. In short, I had a cracked tooth that needed a crown.

I keep promising to get things done but don't so I'll just stop there.

@Mr Orange .... helps us to understand that the cost of convenience must be paid, usually by those who don't share.

@Jo Zebedee .... helps us to understand that in the wrong place, all die. But in the right place, all grow.

I'm so with you. I have lots of things I've promised to do, that I'm struggling with. And I also need a crown for a cracked tooth. All we can do is what we can do. Hang in there.

@Calliopenjo luckily my chompers are all intact, but I do sympathise with your lack of time; I'm going through a particularly busy RL period and simply have had no time recently for fun things like writing and socialising. Take heart from the fact that these things are cyclical, and it'll be our turn for fun soon.

I was more happy with another potential entry. Unfortunately it was lacking in any sort of moral fibre.

The Tale of Aster and Moss, @Jo Zebedee – A fable with a horticultural theme, this tale of two plants and their respective predilections is rich with classical Aesop-esque style.

The Littlest Bear, @HazelRah – Baby bear realises what every adult already knows – that growing up is not all it’s cracked up to be. Be careful what you wish for.

Let it shine, @TheDustyZebra – An entertaining mash-up of proverbs, this story shows that bravery in the face of danger can have unexpected – and frankly quite bizarre – rewards.

Well, I'm in. I suppose "fable" ought to have made me think of Aesop, but for me it irresistibly brought to mind my favourite comic poem, The Sycophantic Fox and the Gullible Raven with its delicious pun in the final line. So I thought I'd pay homage to it with a fable verse of my own.

Still four more stories wanted though, if we're to maintain the record. Who's missing?
