I've sent mine in at 1709 words, but still no receipt. Suspect they're overloaded at the moment!

For reference my cues were:

Title: A WORD ABOUT JASON
Dialogue: Me, me, me, that's the most important thing... me!
Optional Science Idea: Billions have a brain interface connected directly to the cloud, which a terrorist network has now hacked.

For various reasons (which I know some of you will understand) - feeling rather spooked about this selection!

Suspect that they sent a shortlist of titles and dialogue lines, and therefore will judge entries these in groups before picking the final winner.

Also just picked up they had 2068 registrations for the short story and 310 for the film. Good luck everyone... still whittling that I haven't got my confirmation e-mail, but I did send mine in way after TheDustyZebra!

Dialogue Do I know you from somewhere? You look familiar.
Science (optional) A retro-virus drastically extends the lifespan of those who catch it. Should a cure be found?
 
I hated my dialogue prompt. So hackneyed. Very cliche. Much stupid. WOW.
 
Merci! Rex Jackson is a PI character who pops up a lot in my writing, even when I don't expect him to. I don't know why I keep defaulting to noir, but it seems to work for me. And Rex is fun to write, especially when I put him in weird situations like a cyberpunk future Earth or my cross-genre magic/tech fantasy world.
 
Oddly, I mention noir in my story. It's not the theme, but something the main character enjoys.
