Discussion Thread -- April 2017 75-word Writing Challenge

(Perhaps a kind moderator will convert the names into the @name format that is used here to alert the members? Sorry I don't know how to do it :()

Not a Moderator but @name format is just that I type @RJM and I get a little gray box saying @RJM Corbet, I click and voila! Using the @name format brings your post into the @name's alert button on the top (or is supposed to --- does not always work!) so they know they were mentioned in your post. By clicking on that particular alert sends you to the precise post you were mentioned in.

Thanks Hugh.
Btw, I'm not saying my suffering has diminished significantly of late, but I have decided to remove that emotive moniker. Tis plain old Suffel now...

Corralling my thoughts on this month's entries was a bit of a rush job but I eventually settled on the following:

Shortlist:

The Human Engineer, @BigJ
Craps, @LittleStar
Whom Gods Destroy, @Victoria Silverwolf
Monopolising, @Andrew Lambert
It Was Thiiiiiis Big, @Stable
And the Winner is... @ratsy
What Mother Doesn't Know, @Culhwch

Finalists:

A Royal Affair, @TheDustyZebra
All the World's a Stage,
@Stuart Suffel
Play with the Bones, @Jason McGraw

Although A Royal Affair ran it very close, in the end I plumped for @Stuart Suffel's All the World's a Stage.

A Collection Worth Six Million, @HazelRah – I’ve heard of people selling their soul for money, fame or love but not folks having it taken because it’s pretty.

Not even the one-eyed king? @The Judge – They may not play ‘I-Spy’ in the Valley of the Blind but I bet they’re really good at hide and seek...

Its Only a Game, @nixie – The captives in this story of troll football enjoy the game so much they’re having a ball. Or being one.

A Royal Affair, @TheDustyZebra – Like the football story above, the subject of this cheeky little story is also having a ball. A literature-lover in more ways than one.

All the World’s a Stage, @Stuart Suffel – A heart-rending tale of children who’s play is a dutiful distraction from the miseries of the world.

All right, I voted. From my 'short' list of:- ErikB, mosaix, TheDustyZebra, TitaniumTi, Tywin and Ursa major I finally came down on the dusty one.

Thanks to:- Joshua Jones, Starbeast, Stuart Suffel and Talysia who mentioned my verse, and especially to Cathbad and TitaniumTi who went so far as to vote for it.

More thanks to:- pyan, Ensign Shah, Wruter, Lumens, Hugh and dannymcg, who voted despite not having the moral pressure of having submitted - much appreciated. Do I have to make a list of those of whom the inverse is true?

Here we go - to the best of my chart reading (there's likely to be at least one foul up) the list of those who submitted but haven't yet voted is:- Aine, Alex Darion, Ashleyne, BigJ, Calliopenjo, Coast, farntfar, HazelRah, Jason McGraw, LittleStar, Mr Orange, Perpetual Man, ratsy, The Judge, Tywin, Ursa major and Walled Cities. Mind, several of those are dedicated to last secondism, but not all.

Lots of interesting and unique takes on the theme. Finally narrowed my list down:

My Long List, Short List and **** Favorite ****

Round Trip Lunar Astronaut – Starbeast

Thanks for the mention Johnnyjet. You made my day. I enjoyed your story too.

Round Trip Lunar Astronaut, @Starbeast – A charming little musical ditty ripe with fun references for the reader to unpick, this song details the fate of a lost astronaut that might hinge on the build quality of flat-pack furniture.

Hi Shyrka. I just discovered that you were also reviewing the stories. Thank you for the review. Stay awesome.

Thanks to everyone who mentioned or listed my stories. Also, thank you parson, Victoria and Shyrka for your wonderful review.

My runner up was HazelRah, but in the end, I voted for Culhwch.

My favourites:
Jason McGraw – Play with the Bones
Ashleyne – I’m a Stalker
Mosaix – What Could Possibly Go Wrong?
Stable – It Was Thiiiiiiiiis Big!
HoopyFrood – Your Move
Culhwch – What Mother Doesn’t Know

And my vote: Ratsy – And the Winner is….

Honourable mentions:
Ratsy
BigJ
Victoria
Culhwch

Vote:
Stuart Suffel - for the very relatable content

As for my entry... I think I might have to clarify a few things once voting is closed :ninja:
But in the meantime thankyou to TDZ for the vote (I think you got the meaning I intended...), and anyone else who gave it a mention
