I seem to have forgotten to explain my story to those who may not have understood it (which, of course, is none of you...).
Our hero is good old Count Dracula, who is upset that potential victims are being diverted to provide entertainment and food to monsters (ones who are, luckily for the Count, somewhat susceptible to being mortally wounded by silver bullets). With the help of the weapon that didn't quite do the job against the Predator in that Central American jungle, the Count manages to slaughter the monsters while providing more than enough refreshment for himself.
With the monsters dead, he could resort to his usual eating habits... but I suspect that he might have acquired a taste for random, Hollywood-blockbuster-style methods of dealing death. (I mean, who wouldn't...?)
For the record, she's previously won in: September2011; November2012 (tied with Hex); March 2013; and April2014 (tied with Cat's Cradle).
She's also come second several times, which might have skewed your memory of her successes in the last couple of years. In May and August 2011; August 2014; June 2015; April 2016; January 2017.
Anyway, my story addressed some of the reasons people have always given for having displays of animals, from the opposite angle, and a tragic consequence. I wasn't sure if the circus thing would be evident across the pond, but it seems to have stood on its own anyway
Oh wow Dusty! I totally, totally missed that connection. But I do know that at least on this side of the pond Ringling Brothers .... Circus is considered the very top of the heap. It was viewed with awe in the wonderful book Water for Elephants.
