DISCUSSION -- MAY 2017 75-word Writing Challenge

Sigh! My operation did not occur. (I wrote about this in the frustration thread.) I had an infection, an infected hangnail. Nothing more than that. But the operation did not happen. I'm now scheduled for May 12, so we will see how this goes. I should have lots of time anyway.

I'm sorry to hear that, Parson. I hope everything goes according to plan, next time.

@Luiglin .... When you are working for peace among humans your work will always be insufficient and you will "Irreplaceable."

@Talysia .... Finds that the old magic is still magic, except now "The End of the World Will be Televised."

@Calliopenjo .... Brings us a Fantasy version of a gun slinger and there will be "A Death in the Big City."

Cheers @Shyrka and @Parson for the reviews. Although from your readings it looks like I've been too subtle with the story. Oh well, there's always next month :)

Entirely possible, though mostly I just was trying to shoehorn in a Frozen reference, so the in-depth analysis may be lacking! :D

No, I'm always amazed and thankful for the reviews. It's just that rereading my 75 (+ letting my better half peruse it) after reading them shows that I've been too subtle.

The frozen ref was good.

Submitted nice and early in case I forget as I am away 11th - 25th. When will voting end?

Is there a postal ballot?

o_O

If you let me have your user name and password then I'll be happy to act on your behalf ;)

Death In The Big City, @Calliopenjo – A desperate mission ends badly, or so it seems, in this story of lupine assassination set against a backdrop of uncaring concrete and steel.

The Last, @Peter V – A last ditch attempt to bring peace to the world ends badly in this tale of magick and murder.

I'm not usually very good at picking up subtle things, or things with which I am not very familiar, --- like Frozen (@Shyrka -- I'd never picked up on that once. I've seen the show one time while baby sitting my twin granddaughters so I'm sure I missed quite a bit of the story that time.)

@Peter V .... Answers the question "How does the world end?" not with a bang, but with the tinkling of broken glass goes humanity's chance for peace, and it was "The Last."

@Shyrka .... Takes the long black train instead of the daughter who will not now arrive at "Terminus Est."

Cathbad -- This theological fantasy soberly considers the nature of humanity.

dannymcq -- This witty parody tickles the reader with a touch of wordplay.

TitaniumTi -- This revised fairy tale makes us question our assumptions about happy endings.

Vaz -- This tense drama creates a haunting sense of suspense.

Luiglin -- This wistful fable hows us the importance of that which is lost.

Talysia -- This compelling tale of magic reveals the danger of obsession.

Calliopenjo -- This quietly grim story portrays courage with a high price.

Peter V -- This dark allegory depicts the importance of small details.

Shyrka -- This powerful metaphor paints a vivid picture of sacrifice.

Wrong Way on a Dead End Street, @Victoria Silverwolf – How do you tail something as ephemeral as a spirit? Making a living as a detective is tough in more ways than one in this clever take on the gumshoe noir genre.

Unfortunately they went to the great windows recycle bin in the sky. Probably a good job as the joke worked but not in a truly awful way like my normal efforts.
