Discussion Thread -- July 2017 75-word Writing Challenge

dannymcg -- The author presents a provocative new view of the meaning of the human species.

Vaz -- This heartfelt tragedy creates empathy for one who is not of our own kind.

Cathbad -- The power of karma is powerfully conveyed in this chilling tale.

Starbeast -- This satiric comedy casts a jaundiced eye at the marketing practices of modern capitalism.

Aaaaaand, I'm back!

After a two month hiatus, one has decided to rejoin the land of the 75-worder. However, due to time constraints this month I've just done a quick, cliched five-minute jobby to show a willingness to participate, but evidently not a desire to win.

I'll try harder next month though. Honest.

OK, I got my story in without Tom Hanks speaking to me. Granted, I never saw the movie, but I saw enough of the commercials. lol.

As for muses, they're great when they're working. Mine, however, tends to wander off on long vacations.

Parson grumbles about some aggravating muse biting everyone on the same day...... I usually don't have this many reviews to do until the last day when everyone seems to realize they are about to be left out. Parson heads out to find his muse trap, and give the silly muse some training.

@Luiglin .... Shows us the terrifyingly high price some people pay for not being "Collectors."

@dannymcg .... Brings us to a fantasy world where Adam and Eve are simply "First Toys."

@Vaz .... Reminds us that while toys can be fixed people can't no matter how much they might want to "Fix You."

@Cathbad .... Shows us a child horror who has received "A Doll, Just for Me."

@Starbeast .... Reminds us to always read the fine print when buying a "Ryker, the Adventure Biker: A.I. Action Figure."

@Dave Barsby .... Brings us to a world where gaming has become even more serious when you "1UP."

@Calliopenjo .... Creates a sweet toy world where some toys love their work so much they are "Waiting on the Next Assignment."

Thank you kindly, Parson. If your Muse is partial to cheese I have a fine selection you can choose from to bait that trap of yours ... How about a nice aged cheddar? Will that lure it in? :D

I had a muse once. Her name was Melpomene. Her loss was tragic.
Oh thank goodness. I was expecting comedy from you and then you broke my heart instead. At least you're still wisecracking in the discussion thread!

I learned my lesson this round at least: post at the start of the month in case life gets nuts later.

Cheers @Stable. I did contemplate comedy around the same core idea but the horror beat it to a pulp with a barbed wire covered baseball bat :)

I always post earlier as no doubt Murphy, cat or no cat, would intervene and ideas I'd thought of be used by more talented writers.
