Game of Thrones: 7.07 - The Dragon and the Wolf

Apparantly the faceless Men will have Arya assasinate Cersei

One thing that I still don't get was the interaction between the Hound and the Mountain. The Hound says to the Mountain "It’s not how it ends for you, brother, You know who’s coming for you. You’ve always known." Anyone care to explain? Did they go visit Maggy the Frog?

I don't quite get why they rushed this season so much, and at the same time cut it short, by what constitues a couple of episodes or so.

That is an interesting statement. I wonder will it be the Iron Bank who hire the Faceless Men when Cersei fails to pay her debts.

She must have all the women of Kings Landing spinning straw into Gold.

My understanding is that she has the backing of the Iron Bank, who have very deep pockets and are very willing to lend her the money, assuming that they still see her as a potential victor. Remember the Lannisters were very rich, and from previous experience (Cersei not included) they have always been good at paying back debts.

That is certainly how it was explained, however the economics of Westeros work even less well than the geography does. How is the wealth actually earned? Winter has fallen over the agricultural land and they just burnt their whole harvest. Do they have mineral deposits other than Dragonstone? No one is working as all the men are fighting or else dead, and populations are displaced. Soldiers still need to be fed even if not paid. Hardly worth arguing about this though, just as long as I can see more Dragon battles I'll still keep watching it. (y)

money. this season was the most expensive yet. lots of costly cgi. large numbers of extras to costume and pay. had to save where they could. in this case fewer episodes means better episodes..

Cersei is included as she just paid back a massive debt via the Tyrrels wealth.

Maybe Dany should go back over the Narrow Sea and settle to stay on the other continent with her new sausage ... er hubby.

I get that with bats, but those holes must be huge on a dragon...

I think as long as the aerodynamic effects don't change dramatically, holes are allowed. Tears would be worse. But when you look at the White Walker's dead horse at the beginning, it shouldn't be standing. Magic changes everything.

No prophecy, I don't think. I just assume that the Hound means that he's been intending to kill the Mountain ever since he got his face burnt.

That was early in the season, though, when the Lannisters were very briefly on top. Following the dragon attack, I have to wonder how sure the Iron Bank are that Cersei will end up winning. Although they're likely privy to her hiring of the Golden Company and also maybe her sitting out the Back And Forth In The North, so may be figuring she'll be the last standing simply because the other claimants will be demolished by the Night King. That's far from a safe bet, though, because Cersei would then have to win that war to be in a position to pay her debts. Maybe Team DragonWolf should take a wight to the Iron Bank and prompt them to withdraw their line of credit to Cersei.

Actually, that would be a fairly quick way to end that story line. Euron goes to pick up the Golden Company, and waiting is just a single Iron Banker, who tells him they heard what happened at the Dragon Pit, and Cersei has subsequently become a bad investment and been cut off. But thanks for paying back your debt first!

Heh, good point. And here we are arguing about the dubiousness of a Night King's Necromancy spells affecting the fire breathing capabilities of a giant, recently deceased, partially frozen dragon.

I'm saying it here, my prophecy is that the Mountain is killed by fire - possibly at the hands of Sandor or possibly by dragon fire.

Agreed that the Iron Bank may have changed their minds, on the other hand if they've already lent Cersei the money to hire the Golden Company, there's a good chance they don't want to see that money lost, so may intervene to protect their investment. Faceless Men? Buying out Dhaario and the Second Sons?

I have to concede that point. This 'throwing good money after bad' effect something that is an actual real phenomena. It is the reason why con-artists can rip people off over and over again, and why government contracts can go so over budget, or why gamblers cannot stop trying to win back what they have lost. I can certainly believe that rather than write off their losses, the Iron Bank would just give her more and more and hope she does win.

By the way. Is the Dornish army just sitting at home? They should have a new ruler and be wanting revenge. Kind of odd to show senior dornish folks being killed in various episodes but after the failed Navy pickup they are forgotten. Maybe they will pop up over the horizon next series.
