OK we have seen 9 episodes of Star Trek Discovery. Everybody including myself said they would hold off judgement on the series until they've seen it. Some never even bothered to check it out, but for those who did, how do you rank it? PS message boards like Reddit I see it's very popular and definitely ranks up there as one of the best new shows of 2017.
What did you like? What didn't you like?
For me. I loved the character development, the spore drive, and the graphics. Mudd is cool as well as seeing the Klingon side of things. Klingons have always changed their looks so I don't care about that. I miss T'Kuvma. I was hoping to see more of him. Easily up there as one of Star Trek's biggest badasses even though we only got him for a few moments. Kol was kinda dim-witted so I am glad his reign of power is over. Couldn't care less about the L'Rell. Though I have a feeling she is important.
I don't care much about the Shenzhou or Burnham's backstory. The Vulcan stuff just feels like filler. She could easily just have been a regular human mutineer and that would have been more than enough. So sometimes the show can be overly complex where it doesn't need to be. Sarek can easily be cut out altogether. The mind-meld episode was my least favorite. I have a feeling I'll be talking about the Battle of the Binary Stars years from now.
^The greatest moment of the series so far!
Sticking point for me is that we still don't know exactly what is wrong with Stamets. Did he tell anyone about his momentary time-bending lapses? I know the Doctor ran tests but tests can only tell you so much. Episodes 8 and 9 were the best of the season so far.
In conclusion: I think it's the best Trek yet, and we are only 9 episodes in. No Trek was this good 9 episodes in!
