Why are you sorry? You don't even watch the show!

;)

But I can see pictures. I also don't ever recall seeing Klingon ships which coffins attached to them or even mention of such ships.

You really do hate Star Trek, don'tcha?

Nothin' new allowed, huh?

I can't look at that is show with all the differences and changes and call it prequels series . It really isn't.

@BAYLOR Since you aren't watching it, I'm afraid you aren't qualified to say that. The last episode before the mid-season break left some tantalising crumbs behind that might make your statement null and void. To say more would be spoiling, but all the problems you think there are could very easily be explained. So, unless you are going to actually watch this show, you need to stop criticising it. Why you even care if you aren't watching it is beyond me. I think the Dune books should have stopped at Chapter House Dune. I haven't read any further. It doesn't bother me that there are like a hundred more.

Do you recall the Klingons having coffin tomb space ships in the original, Next Generation ,DS9 and Enterprise? Because I don't recall seeing any such ships in the Tree prime universe. They have Holographic project technology which if remember correctly didn't exist in the original tv series Did the original series suddenly lose technology? Spock had an adopted human sister ? The Trek canon can only stretched so far. They would been far better off to set this in the Kelvin Timeline .

Ive seen the first episodes and I've seen enough bits on youtube and read enough to get a a bit of a handle on the series . However I do plan to buy it on DVD so I can see in it's entirety and judge its full merit . Ive been know to change my mind on things.

So why are you here (on this thread)?

It's almost as if you're trying to ruin it for the rest of us?

Im not trying to ruin it. The problem is calling this prequel at all and accepting as such.
It looks more advanced then even the the Next Generation and that is a huge problem right there.

We already knew you hated the show, before the first episode was even filmed. You haven't watched a single episode, but have declared the series a flop. I don't get it, but that's your prerogative.

I apologize - I guess I just can't handle all the unjustified negativity. I'll bow out of the thread for a while.

From what we have seen, it's not Klingon 'ships'.
It's just one large ship called the ship of the dead. It became the Flagship of sorts for the Klingons (for a while). It's actually quite a cool idea and showed the Klingon's barbaric nature. It's probably the one part I liked about the new Klingons.

Unjustified negativity? The problems with this series are so glaringly obvious. How can you not see them?

Which like Spock's adopted human sister has never been mentioned or alluded to in Trek history before. If this series had been in the Kelvin timeline or some other alternate trek time lines , Then I could make allowances for it. Since it takes place in the Prime universe of Trek, It's simply a case of too much disbelief to suspend. And again, if this a prequel to the original what happened to the holographic projection technology? This is an error right here. Then there are uniforms, They should be the same cut and look uniforms on Pikes Enterprise, thats another error right there.

Well, the negative vote would come from the one person who hasn't watched a single episode, eh?

I'm sorry, but I really don't want another return to the mini-skirts and gogo boots of TOS. They felt they needed to do that in JJ Trek, and I get that felt liberating in the '60's, but really in the 2010's?
Oh, and women were not allowed to be captains either.
In Discovery however we have a woman admiral with a degree in psychology.

As for Michael never been mentioned as Sarek's ward, please make note of Spock's brother Sybok, who we only found out existed in Star Trek V.

As for the proto holo-deck, we don't know how sophisticated it is, if the objects projected are even solid.
Amusingly, the web-series Star Trek Continues, opens with Kirk trying out a holodeck scenario set in the old west, Just installed by Scott.

I’m not disagreeing with any of the negative comments regarding canonicity, I’ve noticed all of them and they all made me grimace.

Plus, the Spore Drive. Really? That almost killed it for me. But I decided to just accept it in good faith.

However I love the characters and I’ve found the writing very well plotted especially the Groundhog Day episode.

And above all, what I love the most is that Monday nights are now Star Trek Night. I chalk that up as a win

So, who was it that did provide the negative vote? Someone just flew into this thread and voted "No without leaving any comments? Have the courage of your convictions and pray tell us why.
It's an anonymous poll, I don't think you can demand lurkers to surface and voice their opinion, if they don't feel comfortable doing so.

A mere technicality! The OP (opening post - I've realised I use too much jargon) asked that people give their opinions. Everyone else has given an opinion. In fact, if you've been following this thread in real time, as I have, everyone that voted gave an opinion immediately following their vote, except for one single person. Sorry, if it felt like a demand. I thought it would have been courteous of them to follow the lead set by everyone else.

I'm also really curious to know why someone who has watched all 9 episodes doesn't like it (rather than those who have an ideological belief against it even being made.) In addition, It sucked! That's $6 I'm never getting back! I'm cancelling my CBS subscription!!! is very a strong dislike. They are saying that there is nothing else showing on CBS that is worth the subscription either. So, they subscribed just to watch Discovery, and then didn't like it! This person must really hate it a lot. But not enough to give us a rant about why?
