Discussion -- February 2018 75-word Challenge

I struggled this month, not been in a very writerly place for the last few months, but I didn't want to miss out, so I've jumbled something together last minute. Someone has to prop the rest of the group up from the bottom after all :lol:

Less than a day to go, and nine short. Call that six short, knowing some of us who will always wander in. Who's up for it?

About thirteen hours, and we only need five more (obviously, it'd be good to have a few spares, for emergencies) Of our recent regulars as yet unrepresented we have :- Glen, Joshua Jones, Mad Alice, Phyrebrat, SPoots, Starbeast, Teresa Edgerton, The Judge and Ursa major. Roughly three of these are born-again brinksters, but there are lots of others with the potential to submit, not just the lagomeister counting pixie (who I am not intending to badger, poke or interfere with in any way - it is easily seen that loquacious ol' me is incapable of writing anything in less than a couple of hundred words, so I can sympathise.

Someone else try badgering the bunny -- he tells me he can't write gods and goddesses in less than 150k.

Finally had a chance to write something! There are some really great stories this month, so voting is going to be tight. Any chance we can get three votes again? Please, by any of the gods represented in this challenge?

@TheDustyZebra .... Faster, Pussycat… Of course sometimes the gods mete out very just punishment for furry offenders.

This made me chuckle!

@Stable .... Tweet Loud Enough The Gods Can Hear.... Of course sometimes the goddesses mete out very just punishment for firey offenders.

Political commentary in a myth is an age old technique. Well done.

@LittleStar .... Deus Ex Machina .... As long as there is life, here is always hope for the completely unexpected and unlikely rescue.

@Joshua Jones .... The Prophet .... Reminds us of the "man" in Superman and justice delivered.

This might be the month where we see if 42 is actually the needed answer. We are on post 38 at this point.

@The Judge .... A Very Long Night at the Opera .... The gods recognize poor opera and worse literature. No wonder they stay way up there.

@Ursa major .... They Think Therefore We Are .... When you can't prove a negative, even the gods rejoice.

There are still more than two hours in which to post an entry, two hours or so during which we might get to page three of the challenge thread. (Now there's a challenge!)

Hey, it's bad enough not getting any votes when people have one without giving them three ;p

That is probably going to be me this month... I only had about 2 hours altogether to write my story, so I am not expecting much. My bigger problem is that I see half a dozen stories I would like to vote for...

Print the names on a piece of paper, stick the paper to your fridge door with a magnet, blindfold yourself, then pin the tail on the cat, the cat will claw your leg in retaliation, you'll hop around in pain, hit your head on the fridge - now this is the crucial bit - don't move your head - remove the blindfold from one eye, focus on the first name visible, cast your vote... simples.

Note. If you don't have a cat, try a family member instead.

Of course, as I was reading this, the family kitten, who is not fully litter box trained and therefore a very tempting component, jumped onto my lap...

All right, I'm finally 1st at something here! First to vote and shortlist; The Most Powerful Being, till he tackles homework anyway.
Backspace, Is every rewrite new life or are they reborn just slightly different?
Faster Pussycat. Cats rule, dogs drool! But drooling is more fun than ruling.

There were many other noteworthy entries but these gave me the best laughs.
My vote goes to a guy named Paranoid Marvin who wrote a great love poem, Thunderstruck. Flowers live and die but aggravation keeps on giving!

Joshua Jones -- Even gods need justice.

The Judge -- Even gods need critics.

Ursa major -- Even gods need reasoning.

HazelRah -- Even gods need rules.

Jo Zebedee -- Even gods need equality.

Phyrebrat -- Even gods need sustenance.

AnyaKimlin -- Even gods need health care.

monsterchic -- Even gods need a purpose.

Vote goes to Bob Senior for a nice bit of irony.
