DISCUSSION — May 2018 75-Word Writing Challenge

Victoria and I are often here in the late night hours. So a late night (by our times) has a possibility of a really fast response. ---- But occasionally I've and I'm sure Victoria has let the reviews go for a few days.

-----

@D.A. Xiaolin Spires .... The Invisible Hand .... The one who works behind the scenes can sometimes be "seen through a glass darkly."

Thank you for your review, Parson!

@Harpo .... Foggy Daze .... This show reminds me of the Foggy Mountain Boys who sang "A Man of Constant Sorrows."

@dannymcg .... Manna .... This story reminds us that "to see we have to be seen" and sometimes that is not optimal.

@Hugh .... Inagaddadavida .... "In the Garden of Eden, Baby" The curtain must be repaired or the knowledge of good and evil will bring about incarnation.

It's been a while since I managed to scrabble together the time to do reviews. I'm not back to my usual quality yet, but the puns will return in time, I'm sure.

Beyond Beauty, @Ashleyne – This disturbing body horror proves that beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. Or the mouth.

Hoax or Not, @Cathbad – Voices from the beyond guide this intrepid explorer as they strive to penetrate the veil between worlds but are they past the point of no return?

The Cosmic Matryoshka, @Cat's Cradle – Ranging from the cosmic to the microscopic, this alarming, mind-expanding tale reminds us of our place in the world.

Vesin Ambassador, @AstroZon – A tale of a love-struck alien ambassador and their daring rescuer, rich with classic sci-fi derring-do.

Sometimes… @Calliopenjo – A bleak tale of a life snatched away from glory by unseen, shadowy forces. What the darkness will do with their latest convert remains to be seen.

The Discovery, @Victoria Silverwolf – A cunning twist on a familiar theme that sheds new light on what might lie “beyond the veil”.

Metamorphic, @Onyx – An evocative & mysterious piece that plays with perspectives, making the reader question just exactly who is sculpting whom.

@Peter V .... In the Eye of the Beholder .... Sometimes warnings must be sometimes what "you see can't be unseen" and the results are catastrophic.

The Dance, @Luiglin – A lascivious, bewitching tale of a performance so alluring that it strips away not only the dancer’s outfit but the viewer’s very soul.

Release, @Stable – When a not-so-innocent accident releases something truly terrible upon the world, the poor, hapless soul who unleashed it is forced to watch.

The Invisible Hand, @D.A. Xiaolin Spires – An artist’s calling is an enigmatic thing - what drives them to create their art is as strange and varied as the work itself. In this artist’s case however there may be something even stranger at work.

I love Victoria's reviews! ---- They almost always make what I've written sound more interesting than it really. --- I am fairly satisfied with my story. I hope some of you are forced to grin like I am when I read it.

-------

@s.d. Ervin .... VIRTUAL BOB .... In this tale we keep spinning around and realize that if "you are not confused now, you soon will be."

@chrispenycate .... Salome .... Chris reminds us of the Biblical story of Salome, who may have been veiled, but who clearly veiled her intentions, because she was not about to "Give a sucker an even break."

Thanks for the review, Shyrka! Nice to have you back reviewing, CC

Thank you! It's been increasingly difficult to find the time of late but I'm hoping I can squeeze them in.

Victoria's (and other's) reviews are why I started reviewing myself - it's not easy but if I can give someone even half the delight I feel when I read Victoria's and Parson's reviews of my own work its well worth it!

So, I had a story, edited out about 100 words to bring it into the limits, and went to bed happy with my work. Somehow, overnight, my Lovecraftian epic was transformed into a steaming pile of unprocessed refuse. So bad I would never dream of asking someone to peer review it to figure out how to fix it. So bad its very existence threatened to bring some misbegotten Eldritch abomination into the physical world.

The story has since been sent to its grave, never to be seen again. Alms to the offended Weird SF pantheon would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.

And now, back to work tracking down a muse...

I think this post is about 75 words. Give yourself 30 minutes and bang out a replacement.
