Discussion Thread -- June 2018 75-word Writing Challenge

My shortlist is similar to @Stable
I see you are a Chronner of taste and sophistication.

I re-voted for Ashleyne in the tiebreak, but they are both fantastic stories. Congratulations to both of you.

Also big thanks to Starbeast for saving me from the 0-0 this month. Very benevolent of you!

Wow, I am shocked to have caught Ashleyne! I told my wife around 6pm tonight that I was too far behind to even get close. I'm really pleased, and honored, to be in a vote-off with Ashleyne!

Now, since I voted for her the first time, and because my own story didn't even make my longlist, I shall cast my tie-breaker vote for Ashleyne, and WHAT WAS I THINKING?

Sorry to spam everyone who'd likely wish to only read about that tie-breaker stuff, but I do want to thank Shyrka, Ashleyne, Starbeast, and TDZ, for the late listings, and Phyrebrat, Dan Jones, Mr, Orange, Ursa Major and Abernova for the last-day votes. It all means a lot to me. Forgive me if I missed anyone. Okay - how exciting! :) Best of luck, Ashleyne, CC

Many Congratulations Cat's Cradle and Ashleyne.

Both are remarkable stories.

I have voted for Ashleyne.

Done. While memorably horrific, Patent Pending didn't give me the same sense of story build up as What was I thinking. Both dark and clever ideas. Congratulations Cat's Cradle and Ashleyne.

I voted for @Victoria Silverwolf, but these two were tied for my second place. Both are amazing stories which you should be proud of (or, perhaps, horrified of).

@Ashleyne just bumped out @Cat's Cradle by the slightest of margins.

Also, my apologies for not having time to do a proper short list; I am three days out from a major golf fundraiser for my organization (Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Eastern Shore, if anyone is curious), and doing preliminary sponsorship requests for one in December, so I honestly don't have the time to create a short list.

Thank you, though, to those who listed mine! I will go back through after the golf event to thank everyone properly.

Congrats on Cat's Cradle and Ashlyene for the win! You we're both in my top 3 so I think fully justified!

Many thanks for the votes for my own story - Perp, TJ and Starbeast. Honestly, I had to really tame it down a lot to fit it into 75 words to get the structure in. If it had been a 300 word story, it would have been far more grotesque...

It's 12.50 British summer time on June 29th and our two worthy adversaries are now at 14 votes each.
Awesome!

I'm afraid I'm going to overwhelm the 'Like' function, so I'll stop now. Ashleyne's story is terrific, and I'm happy it's so close (tied at the moment) in the tie-breaker. CC
