Discussion Thread -- August 2018 75-word Writing Challenge

@The Judge .... I sincerely appreciate the mention

---------

I've just discovered I got a stealth vote! Thanks so much @Joshua Jones that really made my day!

I'm not sure that there's ever been this many legitimate contenders this late (Not counting the unlikely scenario that someone would get 7 of the last 9 votes or such.)

Oh, dear. We've progressed beyond cake, then, when I wasn't looking?

I don't even know where the nearest bitcoin mine is. And I very much suspect I don't have any steel-toed boots, or hats with built-in flashlights.

Some incredible stories again, this month. Four stood out for me, though. In order of entry, they were our Illustrious Leader, @Brian G Turner; the Wise Mystic @Cathbad; the Sword of Literary Justice, @The Judge; and our Rocky Mountain Equine, @TheDustyZebra. Almost a Dungeons and Dragons quest group.

Forced to use a pin, I went for TDZ, just barely.

You do you and I have a knack of choosing the winner?

Then again, I haven’t received any cake yet.

The Ursa Jury took ages -- and thus were thinking of claiming overtime -- in their difficult task of attempting to separate the winner from the almost winners. There were quite a few in the latter category, so one had to be recorded as an Honourable Mention! (No wonder the overall race has been so close.) The following are in posting order within the categories:

Honourable Mentions:
  • The Final Story by Cathbad
  • The Book of Enlightenment by Joshua Jones
  • I'm Having a Little Trouble with the Structure by Robert Mackay
  • Not The First by M. Robert Gibson

Runners Up:
  • Eli Got it Wrong by Justin Swanton
  • The Book of Books by johnnyjet
  • Forged Anew at the Pearly Gates by The Judge

Winner:
  • Time Enough and More… by mosaix

Tbf, I can be bribed by the individual
Components. Cheese is good.
And yet, I didn't even make your short list. Or your long list. Or your "barely worth a mention, but ever so slightly above the festering refuse" list. Interesting... ;)

Btw, a huge congratulations to @TheDustyZebra for a second win in a row! Great story. It beat out my exotic cheeses bribes...

Reminds self to make a list next time :D

Or, perhaps, even to wipe out my flash-fiction cobwebs and have a go at entering.

Go on, Dusty. Sexy Space Pilots theme please. :D

(Congrats!)
