Patrick Stewart returns as Picard to lead new Star Trek series

I wanted to like him, but he felt like a stunt to get kids interested that went on too long.

Not me. I was in lurv with Beverly. Sigh.*

*That may have had more to do with hormones though. :)

Beverly Crusher ruled ! :D

Not a fan of token children.

Why does everyone hate Wesley so much?
I also didn't hate him, but he solved too many problems on his own, and that may be why people found it unlikely and him unlikable. He was a Mary Sue (Gary Stu) character. He was so obviously introduced to garner younger viewers, but he didn't achieve that because he wasn't actually that good-looking, and supposedly had no flaws and yet did really stupid things (Justice - even teenagers are not that stupid) and was seemingly loved by everyone aboard, merely because he was young.

You didn't think he was good looking?

People they pick for the right look at 13 or 14 (or younger) often grow into interesting (strange) looking adults.

That's great to hear Robert Picardo from Voyager might be coming back.. god this show opens up so many cool things for not just TNG fans but Voyager and DS9 fans too!

I didn't mind Wesley.. Had a bit of a thing for his mother when I was young haha. Although I recently watched the TNG blurays and noticed that her acting in the first season was pretty bad (more robotic than data lol) which probably played a part in her being written out of the show. However when she came back in Season 3 due to popular demand I thought she was fine and had some great moments.

I thought she was gone because she had a baby and was on leave.

This was, in fact, when I realized Star Trek fans will never, ever, ever be satisfied with the franchise, even when they get exactly what they ask for!

The fans were complaining about TNG's 'perfect/all too likeable characters. The producers gave them a rough, quite unlikeable doctor to replace McFadden. The fans hated her abrasiveness. Even though they made an effort to rehabilitate the new doctor, Muldaur's character didn't make the cut.

I think Wheaton is a much better actor now and would be an asset in any Star Trek series (except Section 31, unless he's their foil).
